TALENT SEARCH WINNING SHOOT-OUT DRIVERS ANNOUNCED
The annual talent search known as The Shoot-Out always sorts out the top talented young drivers from across the nation. Making the Shoot-Out is an honor in itself. Winning the Shoot-Out and earning a spot in Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle driver development program, along with big sponsorship dollars, is the goal. In the previous year’s Shoot-Out 14 of the 933 drivers that applied made the cut. This year only 9 super talented young drivers won spots from the 965 applicants for the RSWC program and Star Racing Supply sponsorship dollars. “We had slightly more apply for 2012, however we were simply more selective in this year’s Shoot-Out,” stated RSWC Owner Ron Sutton..: Full Story
HAVASU 95 SPEEDWAY TO HEAT UP A WINTER'S EVENING
The Havasu 95 Speedway will open its spectator gates this Saturday night and treat their fans to another round of their famous winter racing series. The quarter mile, ASA sanctioned, paved oval, located within the Sara Park complex in Lake Havasu City-Arizona, will heat up a February evening with action from their ASA Street Stock, Sam Nichols Electric Bandolero, the Factory Stock and the Goose Team Factory Stock divisions. The speedway will also present vintage open wheel racing action from the Western Racing Association and West Coast Vintage Racing. The green flag falls on the racing action at 6 pm..: Full Story
NMRA-TQ MIDGETS 2011 AWARDS BANQUET
National Midget Racing Assn (NMRA) three-quarter (TQ) midget teams held their 2011 season awards banquet Saturday night here at Aloha Ranch overlooking the Evans family 20-acre avocado ranch. Driver Chuck West, of Clovis, and his car owner West Evans, of Moorpark, were honored as repeat champions in their respective categories. Both are now four time NMRA champions since NMRA reformed in 2002. NMRA, which operated from 1957-1986, disbanded from 1987-2001 so USAC could sanction TQ midget racing. Michael Re has been named Ticket Operations Manager at Infineon Raceway, raceway officials announced.
Re, who has more than 25 years of ticketing experience, will manage and oversee all aspects of ticket operations and services, including policies and procedures related to ticket sales, pricing and allocation. Almost 500 persons (497 to be exact) attended the 2012 Speedway Motorcycle preview, “meet and greet”, free BBQ kickoff luncheon Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
