Irwindale NASCAR Racing "Eggtravaganza"

With a great opening night 2014 now under its tightly-cinched-up racing belts, race two in Irwindale's 18-event NASCAR season looks to be another terrific crowd-pleaser. The aptly-namedRacing Eggstravaganza night of competition will be presented by the great folks at Rocket Fizz Soda Pop & Candy Shops who now boast some 18 locations in California and 20 more sweet stops across the country.

Richardson Wins Twins

Both wins by Richardson came after exciting battles with Lance Wilson. Wilson, in the Taylor Motorsports #15, led 34 of the 70 laps but was unable to get to victory lane. "(Lance) is tough to get around man! Once we got the lead (in the first 35) we checked out," Richardson said. "We only have a hundred laps on this car so I can't say enough about the guys. I have to dedicate this win to my mom...I love you and this one is for you!" Wilson took the lead of the first 35 lap race from the outside pole on Brian Richardson. Richardson and cousin Eric Richardson stayed closely in tow throughout the event, before action picked up in lapped traffic. Wilson and Brian Richardson banged doors while working past a lapped car in turn three, allowing Richardson to take over the lead on lap 24. Richardson took a .723 second win with Wilson topping Eric Richardson by a nose at the stripe for second. Buddy Shepherd and Cole Adamo rounded out the top-five.

Thornton & Lundy Among Spring Speed Event Stars

Ricky Thornton, Jr., continued his mastery of the 1/3-mile Canyon Speedway Park clay oval by winning Saturday night’s IMCA Modified feature during the Spring Speed Event. While Thornton, Jr., bested the Modified ranks once again, Matt Lundy struck for a win in Challenge Cup Sprint Cars as well with Matt Martinez triumphant in the Factory Stocks, David Harrington handling the Renegades and Tony Martin victorious in the Dwarf Cars. Thornton, Jr., rallied from four rows deep for his sixth overall CSP win of 2014 ahead of Cody Center with George Fronsman, Jeremy Thornton and Clifton Maggard in the top five. Matt Lundy also race from the seventh starting position to take Challenge Cup Sprint Car honors ahead of Dennis Giles and Kevin Keefer while Matt Martinez took advantage of a front row starting position to win the Pure Stock main event ahead of 12th-starter Chris McCurdy, Jr., and Zack Madrid.

World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Perris

PERRIS, California — Joey Saldana hit the "Hallelujah Trail" racing the 71m Motter to collect his first World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series victory in the 2014 season schedule. It was a $10,000 win for Saldana and his team. Actually, this is their second win racing sprints, having their first win of the season earned racing with the "All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars, during the Dirt Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida. Saldana also won the over all Sprint Car Champion at this event, where the WoO Sprints started their season.

Family Night Successful at Evergreen Speedway

Saturday night April 12 was the first of four Frontier Communications Family Nights and the $10 per ticket with 10 and under free drew a good crowd to watch the Outlaw Figure 8 season debut. Nick Gunderson (Marysville, WA) started the season as a winner. The Les Schwab Tires NASCAR Street Stock feature winner was Roger Drake (Arlington, WA). Foster Press NASCAR Mini-Stock main went to rookie Trenton Moriarity (Monroe, WA) and the Interstate Batteries Hornet Division main winner was Scott Hunt (Kenmore, WA). In the traveling series main for the Northwest Pro 4 Trucks, Terry Warren (Everett, WA) was victorious. The next Frontier Communications Family Night is on Saturday May 31.

On Saturday night April 12 at Evergreen Speedway the first of four Family Nights presented by Frontier Communications lets everyone in for just $10 with children 10 and under FREE. The night will feature the Outlaw Figure Eights, Northwest Pro 4 Truck Series, Les Schwab Tires NASCAR Street Stocks, Foster Press NASCAR Mini-Stocks and Interstate Batteries Hornets. Racing begins at 6pm at Washington State's only NASCAR track located at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, WA. Evergreen Speedway is the home of the $100,000.00 Summer Showdown on June 27 & 28.
