NASCAR Names Two New Hires

NASCAR announced two new hires today as part of the company’s commitment to implementing strategic growth plans for several critical segments, including youth, millennial and multicultural. Peter Jung joins NASCAR as Senior Director of Growth Segment Marketing, reporting into Managing Director of Brand and Consumer Marketing Kenny Mitchell. Jung, most recently from MasterCard International, served as vice president of global consumer marketing, responsible for youth segment strategies and programs designed to drive a greater preference for the MasterCard brand. In this role, he oversaw the delivery of global consumer insights, innovation and marketing plans that supported youth segment priorities in the U.S. and several international markets.

4th Annual Canyon Clash on Tap for USAC SW Sprints

This Saturday, April 26th, the popular USAC SouthWest Sprint Car Series will return to Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria. Promoted by Kevin Montgomery, the “4th Annual Canyon Clash” will also showcase Mini Sprints, Pure Stocks, and AMA Modlites. The Front Gates will open at 5:00pm with Racing scheduled to begin at 7:00pm. The facility will also host an open practice session on Wednesday night from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

WC & Classic Sprints at Kings & Thunderbowl

USAC's West Coast and Western Classic Sprint cars combine for this weekend's back-to-back races at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif. and Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif. Friday's race at Hanford is the second of six slated this year at the 3/8-mile dirt track which hosted the West Coast Sprints in March. The race is the "Verne Brasel Classic."

Travis Irving, Ryan Partride Take LOLM Twins

Travis Irving won his first feature since 2011 and Ryan Partridge took his third of the season in the Lucas Oil Late Model Twins at Irwindale Speedway on Saturday night before 3,823 spectators. Irving broke Partridge’s three-race winning streak in the Lucas Oil Late Models in the second feature. The 28-year-old from Corona, Calif., led all 30 laps on the half-mile track to finish 1.390 seconds in front of runner-up Cole Custer of Ladera Ranch, Calif. Partridge, from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., finished third.

Coca Cola Night Sees Six Different Winners at Kern

Coca Cola Night at Kern County Raceway Park saw a diverse mix of races with David Mayhew storming to a convincing win in the NASCAR Pro Late Models while the inaugural race for the 911 Racing Series went to Detective Josh Stephens of Shafter Police Department.

The Easter Bunny was at the Speedway helping popular track mascot LugNut Junior pass out candy and posing for photos at the on-track autograph party on the raceway's front straightaway on Saturday night. Their holiday fun setting up the night for festive crowd of some 3823 Irwindale fans were all ready for a jam packed evening of (eight-count-em-eight) individual races.

PAS Sprint Car Triple-header April 12

The “So Cal Sprint Car Spectacular” at Perris Auto Speedway on April 12 was a first-time event featuring three sprint car series. World of Outlaws (WoO) winged 410 cu. in. sprint cars were joined for the first time by USAC-CRA 410 non-wing sprinters AND non-wing PAS Senior Sprints (360 cu. in. and a few restricted 410s) for drivers age 45+. Grandstands and pits were more crowded this year than last year when WoO was accompanied only by the winged California Lightning Sprints powered by motorcycle engines. Several hundred additional fans in the grandstand this year made the triple-header sprint car program a must-see in-person event.
