1-800-LoanMart is proud to announce that we have struck a deal with the promoters at the Orange Show Speedway to sponsor a giant Street Stock open Comp race on October 22. We are still finalizing all the specific details, but we are pleased to say that the minimum winners purse for the 'A' main will be $4000. The rules are being finalized right now, and will be posted shortly at www.californiaspeedjams.com.

The rules are being worked to allow cars from Irwindale, Vegas, OSS, Blythe, and Havasu to compete, and with the close proximity of the individual track rules for this level of car, there will be very limited modifications necessary to make a level playing field for all.

We are excited to find out the best Street Stock driver on the West Coast, and hope that this sort of purse will bring the best of the best. The plan is for a Friday night practice, and Saturday races.

If there is a good amount of interest, we will be adding to the event, with the hopes of a 'Champions' Dash For Cash involving track champions from various Western tracks.

As mentioned, this is hot off the presses, so please allow some time for the Orange Show to get the rules finalized and posted. We just want to make sure that everyone gets the word out, and can set that weekend aside!!

Please Let us know when these rules are posted. If they are opened up a little more than the normal street stock rules they use, they might get some cars from up north

Also for guys that arent ASA memebers at their home track because they dont need it , it makes going to this race really expensive with the added cost of becoming a ASA member. Waive that fee for this race it will help alot. Because everyone in your crew will need to pay it for a pit pass.

The track sells one day memberships (at least they did at the start of the season). I believe you can buy up to three of these before you have to join ASA...

I have checked the rules of the local tracks around there, and they all seem to have the same basic street stock suspension rules as everywhere else, but they dont allow vortec heads or roller tip rockers, and require steel intakes, no headers. I may be wrong, but Those are the only differences I can spot from a lot of the cars from up north.

i know a few up north that would like to travel down also if th rules are opened up a little bit also. ex. alum intake, tube upper control arms, roller rockers, etc... tracks rules from all american speedway, stockton 99 speedway, etc.

Does anyone know when and where the rules will be posted? There's a few of us who want to attend but need to see the rules to make sure cars from LV can come without alot of modifications. We all have alum intakes, headers, and our shocks are offset because we cant run after market upper a-arms. I'm sure there are a few other issues but we think those are the big ones.

if your car has weight jacks , can you cover them , with a welded tab or something.......to make them inoperable , and play....?

it's a barona / el centro /pairs clas type Dirt car..with a fiberglass body.
so ..:
it's only 3000lbs with driver...now.. with 55%left..

so my car must be 3250 lbs 3200 min , +50, for the body..

could i...say add another 100....to 120lbs..for the shocks..???

A few questions: The rules state track fuel, for cars running E85, does the track sell E85?

Is the weight rules before the main or after?

Any body know of someone i can get a hold of that races at OSS so i can see what final gear they run in a street stock there? thanks for the help!

depends on the motor.... it's only a 1/4 mile track...

the last "open Comp",...i ran at OSS was 1996 or 97...???

i ran a 7.05 gear...turned 7300...2ed fast..

lake hav.speedway...we used the same set up,... 2ed fast..also.... 15.01
the track record came 1 car later @ a 14.99.......

im not sure if it's still 14.99.......

SAN BERNARDINO, California — California Event Management officials today have amended the rules for the 1-800LoanMart Street Stock Shootout to make it even easier and more affordable for teams to compete in the lucrative Oct. 22 race at ASA-sanctioned Orange Show Speedway.

The race will pay an unheard-of $4,000 to win and if early response is an indication it is going to be the short-track version of the Daytona 500 for drivers who usually race for $200 or $300 and a trophy.

CEM officials have received inquiries from drivers at tracks throughout the Western U.S. and anticipate receiving 60 or more entries. An early-entry form is being prepared and soon will be available on the track’s website at www.CaliforniaSpeedJams.com. The complete rules for the event are available there as well.

The amendment, drafted after listening to comments from drivers and car owners, generously waives the requirement that all entries must use Orange Show Speedway track tires only. The modified rule allows teams whose home tracks use the Hoosier 970 or 700 series tires to run those tires in the Shootout, but also stipulates that anyone purchasing new tires for the event MUST buy them from Orange Show Speedway.

CEM President Mark Brinksma and his technical staff made the changes after drivers who already use the approved tires at their home tracks voiced concerns about the financial issues purchasing new tires would create for them.

“The track and 1-800LoanMart are doing everything we can to make this an unforgettable event for the racers, the spectators and the track,” Brinksma said. “We’ve worked very hard on making the rules as racer-friendly as possible so everyone has a chance to compete and addressing the concerns about tires certainly does that.”

It still says if you are gonna buy NEW tires they must be bought from OSS. So anyone who was complaining about the tire rule....guess what there is gonna be some guy there who can afford to buy 2 sets of brand new tires , so to even have a chance you will need brand new tires anywayz. Noone is going to win with last years used tires because there will be people who can afford new rubber even though most guys (including myself) can't. It sucks but its true

These people have put up the money so you guys can run for $4000! Tires are not going to be your bigest expense. That kind of money will make lots of drivers take more chances. I think your biggest expense for this race will be fixing your cars. I think those who can't afford it should stay home and let someone else win the money.

970'S are faster worn out then new,ask any one who has run them.

We ran 970's two years ago and have sinced moved to the 700 and our lap times are 5 tenths or more faster with the 700 series than the 970. Could be the cars improving but i think some of it is the tire also.

You do NOT have to purchase your tires at the track (OSS). As long as you run The Hoosier 970, it does not matter where you bought them from. OSS will have some take offs available but I would imagine that will be a free for all. There should be a lot of those tires sitting around since Irwindale, Blythe and Havasu have run them.
I hope to see a lot of cars at this race (which I believe there will be at least 50). Going to be a great race and thanks to 1800LOANMART, a great purse.

There are several people waiting to see the overall costs before deciding on if they are attending. With only 4 weeks to go, I hope the entry forms and supporting information comes out very soon. Otherwise you mght loss potential players.

Not sure where you are getting your information from, but the tire rule amendment posted on 9-14 states clearly that if you are going to buy new tires for the race, they MUST be purchased from OSS.

Then buy New ones at your track and run 1 lap on them. Now they are no longer New tires and you can now run your Brand new used tires for the race.
