I see people blaming a few individuals for the Irwindale demise. It's not some employee at the tracks who is at fault, everyone gave up their community without fighting for it. This is just one more indication of the condition of your state.

Irwindale is gone and you only have to look at yourself in the mirror to see who is to blame. Maybe next time when some special interest group decides to pass legislation that destroys your lifestyle, you'll step up and fight back instead of just taking it.

I will say, it was not specifically one person who led to the demise. It was a few, but it involved one team, one car builder and race operators.

When you cater to one team so that they can have a championship, that is not earned, you piss off the drivers who are working their asses off week after week.

When you constantly change rules in other divisions, you piss people off.

When tech inspection is inconsistent, you piss people off.

Yes, the racers did abandon Irwindale. And for good reason. Why continue to support a track that only has interest in supporting one team?

I just don't get it!In any/all Businesses the top dog is held responsible by the Owner, how could Jim Williams allow his track Manager to just let his facility run into the ground? People want to say NOT ONE PERSON is responsible, this is true, BUT when the ship started sinking a few years ago why did the owner let the Manager continue to hold the Wheel and just let it sink? Yes the Economy is a factor, BUT businesses must project and make adjustments! Forget the fact that I have I/S Trophies right here in front of me in my Office and have cherrished memories of many wins and championships and incredible moments of team work with my fellow teammates at this georgous facility, it is so sad for me personally as I live 2 miles from it and drive by it all the time AND have been bringing my family there since the day it opened!I do thank Jim Williams for the fact that the facilty changed my life by introducing me to hundreds of people in the racing community who are now like family to me!

Sorry but I am not to blame. I ran 40 plus races at Irwindale last season. (SWTT, LM, SLM, KTST & OC. I was there every weekend but 1. I have supported Irwindale since I started racing there in 2000. Poor management & constant rule changes are too blame not the racers.

As soon as a majority of people said I'm not going to go there anymore because of this person or that person, the track was destroyed. I however do believe that it will be reincarnated since it is a great facility and there isn't a lot of external forces that are trying to eliminate it. It's not prime real estate that can be used for something else.

However the key to this whole situation is keep your racing costs under control and in line with the purses being paid, you can't have $100,000 cars with $1000 to win purses.

DavReno, It was not the one or two PEOPLE, it was the STUPID rule changes those one or two morons made! They NEVER listened to the drivers or owners input except maybe a few who where most likely putting a few $$ in those morons pockets to make rules that would only benifit their own interest!

Yeah, its all the peoples fault who spent thousands upon thousands of dollars racing at Irwindale only to have to deal with constant rule changes and letting one particular team essentially do what they want with their cars. Why don't you pull your bottom lip over the top of your head and swallow asshole.

I blame truckracer28! I know for a fact he missed a weekend!

The track failed because the racers were treated like shit period! Anyone can say what they want but when there are constant rule changes, special deals, kick backs on tires, company trucks etc. someone is getting their palm greased. All I know is there were some pretty expensive Championships handed out and this year they didnt get their trophies!Confused
