Can you run straight rails in the SRL?

No. Perimeters only. Steel interiors, except dash and crush panels. Basically Current tour rules with new "spec motor option". Go to SRL website and click on rules,

The new ASA/SRL series should allow straight rail cars and other engines. If someone is really concerned about a straight rail car being that much better than a perimeter, give the perimeter cars a 50lb weight break but the same left side weight rule as the straight rails. As for engines, 9 to 1 engines are stupidly expensive if you want a competitive one. There are a lot of teams in the northwest with untouched steel heads, these teams should be allowed to race against the teams with the 9 to 1's. A 9 to 1 with a 390 carb vs an untouched steel headed open compression engine with a 650 carb are very close in horsepower.

crockerd,

where would you propose taking the 50#'s from on a perimeter chassis? I've not seen a tour-legal perimeter chassis that could get much more than about 56.5% and stay close to 2900#'s

straight rails can run at 2950, which is the standard weight for the late model challenge series right now, and both types of cars can be 56% left side.

I thought we were talking about the ASA/SRL where a tour-legal perimeter at min. 2900 total & max 56% left was required. You suggested giving 50# break to a perimeter to offset the advantage held by a straigh rail, which you suggested be allowed in the ASA/SRL. LMCS is not limited to 56% but actually 58% left unless the motor is over 360cid. With the Brodix spec head, the minimum is 2850.

My question is not with what LMCS allows, but where you propose to take the weight off the current SRL (tour-legal) car.

I am suggesting the new SRL/ASA division alter their rules so both types of cars and engines can race with each other.

9 to 1 390 carb or open compression steel heads with a 650 carb maybe even 750

base weight for the cars 2950 with 56%left, 50lb weight break for perimeter cars. 65 track width

I think it would be easyer for one (you) to get a correct car to race that series instead of about 80 + cars that are legal now, and have been for 21 years, to change just to make you happy. And then you want all these cars to change their track width. I just don't see the point in all these changes, to a series that has been working perfect for 21 years.

The tour is done, I am pretty sure this isnt because there were TOO MANY cars showing up at every race. Why not have a new series that allows the tour cars that are out there and the super latemodels to race against each other.

I feel your pain, but Super Late models racing with Tour cars is not the answer. Remember SRL didn't abandon you, NA$CAR did. SRL has a rules package that fits the majority of cars on the west coast. I cant see them changing the formula of the cars, only the vision and leadership of the division.

I stopped SLM racing as I grew tired of trying to race 100 miles away from home, only to find out the rules prevented me from either attempting or competing, with weight penalties, tires, etc.
