#1 new late model driver?
racefannnnn Posts: 5 02/21/2012 6:25 PM	Has anyone heard of the new kid coming up from baby grands? I guess he won a ton of races last year..he's from Spokane he also won the championship in those little cars! Joey bird is his name...how do you guys think he will do??

Nichole Behar is the same. Mike is a hell of a set up man and engine builder Ed Nereaux builds her engines. Once they get their feet wet they will be SUPER tough. RaceFannnnn. 3 posts. Must be a family member. Lol. But here nor there Joey and Nichole are awesome.

Joey Bird is a great racer. Braeden and him swapped wins for 4 years in go karting. Jeff will build him great engines and set his cars up good.

Nichole Behar is the same. Mike is a hell of a set up man and engine builder Ed Nereaux builds her engines.

Once they get their feet wet they will be SUPER tough.

Both drivers and parents need to put their egos aside and learn the class and the people they are racing against for a few races before trying to make a name for themselves or set the racing world on fire. Remember - you're not just dealing with daddy's money, you're spending everyone else's also when you get in over your head. And Todd is right, it's pretty obvious who started this thread.

That wasn't anything negative - I have raced against too many of these new to a class drivers and have seen them start up front and create total havoc trying to win rather than choosing to start at the back of the pack for a few races to get the feel of things, in fact my last late model was destroyed by the very same thing. Both drivers and parents need to put their egos aside and learn the class and the people they are racing against for a few races before trying to make a name for themselves or set the racing world on fire. I agree lml29. A Latemodel is alot of racecar and a pretty big step from whichever class you run. The competition level is higher and alot of the skills required to race in that class cannot be taught anywhere else. I don't think they are talking about racing type incidents, but driving into wrecks or spun-out cars when 10 other cars made it around the incident just fine shouldn't happen, espescially with a spotter. Or overdriving the car in the wrong situations because of the unrealistic expectaions placed on these kids. Driving any car is a huge responsibility, espescially a 600+ HP latemodel.

In the greater Spokane area Joe Bird, Havens and Nicole are just a few of the next generation coming to/or recently competing but also toss in Blake Williams, Garrett Sawyer, Jake & Joe Bissett Kahlen Koch and coming soon Jared Storer, Colton Schultz etc. The area has a good group of young talent moving into the ranks which hasn't been the case in the last few years.

What alot of these people don't realize is that most of these young drivers like the two mentioned above have probably never in their lives driven a car that is capable of spinning the tires without revving it up and dumping the clutch - what do you think is likely to happen the first time they see that green flag with 600 horsepower under their foot and 20+ cars behind them? you don't get that experience from hotlapping, I know a few grown men that could never figure it out who left alot of pissed off racers and destroyed cars in their wake - you just have to set aside the ego in favor of common sense.
