Community Cares Dan Brickey

I share this sad bit of news with RacingWest readers as a way to honor and respect a man whose contributions to safety in motorsports is immeasureable. This is a tremendous loss for the drag racing community and motorsports in general.

I was fortunate to meet and see Dan in action on numerous occasions over the years at the track in Pomona. Not only was he a racer, he had a kind heart and welcome smile -- all of which suited him as the top Doc in NHRA.

To give you an idea of the kind of man he was, upon learning of my keen desire to see the Indy 500 and all of the racing tracks in and around that area, he offered me a place to stay and told me he'd show me around. Sadly, for me, I never took him up on that offer.
