Community Cares Ian Strmiska

We are sending out a prayer request form little Ian Strmiska. The following is a letter from Ryan Strmiska, Jr. He is the son of Ron Strmiska SR., and brother of Ron Strmiska Jr. Ryan's other nephews(Ron Jr's kids) are both employee's of Orleans Racing. Ron is the 2003 SRL Wild West Shootout Late Model Champion. Here is a rundown of what's been going on with my son Ian. On April 30 he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of cancer found in young kids. He has received 3 of 5 treatments of chemo-therapy to shrink the tumor near his stomach and that had spread to his bone marrow. After the first treatment, he went from not being able to walk because of pain in his legs to feeling almost normal. It wasn't long before he was running around and playing with his little brother chase like they used to. In the next few months he will undergo surgery to remove the tumor and receive high doses of chemo. During this time he will be in isolation at the hospital for a month to avoid exposure to any airborne germs or illness. To date, Ian has been a happy energetic kid like he should be. Going to the races to watch his Uncle Ron race is his absolute favorite thing to do. Ian will turn 5 in October. I will be in touch in the coming weeks. Thanks, Ryan Strmiska

  Ian Reed Strmiska, Age 7, passed away on Thursday, November 9th, 2006 at UC Davis Hospital in Sacramento, California. Ian was born on October 9th, 1999 in Manteca, California and lived in Salida for six years. Ian attended Dena Bore School in Salida. Ian loved Nascar racing and loved watching his uncle Ron and Cousin Ross race at Stockton 99 Speedway. Ian also enjoyed trips to the ocean.
