Community Cares John Albert Reed

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Albert Reed, age 68, loving husband, father and grandfather.

On Tuesday, January 10, 2006, John lost his battle with cancer. John was born in Los Angeles on December 7, 1937. In 1956, he married his childhood sweetheart, Carolyn, and enjoyed 49 years of loving companionship. John carried on the family gear manufacturing business for over 50 years. Over these years, he helped many young men fulfill their dream of racing. John also enjoyed cheering on his favorite team, the USC Trojans & following NASCAR racing.

Survivors include his wife Carol, daughters Linda Coulson and Laurie Hill, son-in-law Edmund Hill, son John Jeffery Reed, daughter-in-law Dana Reed, as well as "the apples of his eye", grandchildren, David Gilliland, Lisa Marie Gilliland, Amanda Lea Gilliland, Robert William Coulson, Thomas Henry Coulson, Jake Jackson Reed, Cole Ryne Reed and Evan John Reed.

We have been left with a very large void, but in his honor, we will get through this difficult time together as a family and make him proud. We are grateful for the time we had with him and all that he taught us. John wishes were to be cremated and his ashes scattered among his favorite places, including Hawaii and Laughlin.

A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Hill residence.
