  October 03, 2003 -- We want to thank everyone for their kind posts, calls and cards, but especially for your prayers for Kate. We'll try to be brief, but in short, things look terrific! As you know, on New Year's Eve we noticed some tremors in Kate's left arm. In 24 hours, tremors had moved to both arms and legs and she had slow, slurred speech. She also had extreme "zoned out" periods of blank stares and other non-responsive episodes. The timing of something this serious could never be OK, but on New Year's Day it was very difficult to locate doctors and specialists. ...

  12/30/03 -- Hi Kate! How are you doing these days? Did Santa bring you lots of fun toys? You are a good little girl and we hope to see your Daddy in Phoenix or some other West series track this year. I would say hope to see him in victory circle, but then if everyone was in victory circle that I want to see there, it would leave the rest of the track empty. Know why? Because all the drivers would be in victory circle! You have a nice 2004. Lots of people are praying for you.
