Community Cares Keith Johns

09/10/99 -- Press Release from C and C Racing
The C &C Racing team seriously missed the presence of Keith Johns and his Father, Crew Chief Bob Johns at the L.A. Street Race this past weekend. Keith Johns was seriously injured in an automobile accident September 2nd and is still hospitalized.

The team first heard the news of Keith's accident on Thursday, and honestly it was tough to finish race preparation and get motivated for the event after hearing of Keith's accident. Bob Johns has been working with C & C Racing since last year, and Keith has been on the C & C Racing team since Sears Point, and has really helped get our program on track.

I spoke with Bob Johns this morning and he informed me that Keith is doing better every day. It was good to hear that Bob had finally got some rest at home after several straight days at the hospital. Keith is a tough young man and we are all positive that he will fight his way through this recovery period. The Johns family is anxious to transfer Keith to the USC Medical Center where they can further treat his injuries.

All of us associated with C & C Racing wish Keith a speedy and complete recovery, and the entire Johns family is in our thoughts and prayers. We are looking forward to seeing Keith on his feet soon and back at the races. Special thanks Eddie Robison and Dick Varder of Motor Racing Outreach for their support and prayers and for their visits to the hospital during the event.

09/09/99 -- Reported by Dick Varder, MRO
Keith Johns, the son of NASCAR Winston West and Southwest Series crew chief Bob Johns, was involved in an auto accident.

He has a fractured thigh, lower leg, collar bone, and severe skull fractures. He is making a great recovery as the doctors thought that he would be in a coma for days. He is talking to people, he can communicate by writing messages, and he is able to eat and drink.

He will be transfered to LA Count USC Med. Center for reconstructive surgery because of the skull fractures as soon as the doctors say he can be moved. Our prayers are with him and his family.

Well Wishes for Keith Johns

Hey Keith -- Want to wish you a speedy recovery. Sorry I didn't know about things sooner, but I know your tough and I am sure you will be back soon. Bob, hang in there.
Kevin Harvick

Keith --I don't know you personally, but I do know your dad John, who has been instrumental in some of the teams I have represented. If you have a fraction of the strength and perseverance of your dad, you'll shake this hospital visit in no time. Our thoughts and best wishes are with you, and your entire family, for a speedy recovery.
