Prayers and Support For Les Richter

To Les's Family: Kathy & my prayers will be with your family in these days ahead. Les was a special man that was involved in historical times in NASCAR's history. In my times of meeting him at a racing event I found him kind, fair and funny. Les, "thank you for the memories." I cherish them!

worked for les at riverside raceway 68-70 . him and roy hord took good care of us young air force cops who provided pit/vip/garage security. always got us food, drinks, a beer or two . les would insure the track was ready before gates opened ie would be picking up butts and trash. i would drive his raceway amc to s. ca. locations to pickup money at ticket locations too. one time with a wet track he had me in my 66 shelby gt-350 drive the track to help dry it. let us refuel with race fuel too !! did lots of vip lounge duty too. i would take invites to our general officers at the base to the races. he planted the seed in me to really like racing. 25 years later i got involved with scott gaylord racing and had a ball for 9 years. les also got me a job at the first ontario speedway race. les was a role model for many, a true leader.

Attended my first "Cup" race in 1977 at the then "Winston Western 500" at Riverside and since then racing has been in my blood. Realizing that Les was such a huge part of bringing NASCAR to Riverside and introducing me to the sport I've come to love. There are very few remaining who are like Les and for that we are a poorer society. To the family of Les, thank you for sharing him with us for all those years. God Bless and Godspeed Mr. Richter. You've left an indelible mark. RB
