WILTON, California (April 22, 2008) – Flashco SRL veteran Mike “M.K.” Kanke suffered a hip injury when he suffered a 12 foot fall while working on the bucket of his 1937 tractor. Kanke has just had what he called phase one surgery. The hope is that this initial surgery will do the job, but he will have to wait a couple months to make sure everything has healed properly. “I was up about 12 feet, repairing the bucket of my grandfather’s tractor and assumed that the tractor weight would hold the bucket and me up there. Unfortunately the tractor tipped dropping the bucket and me to the ground”, said Kanke from the hospital. “The surgery went well but I won’t know how well for about 60 days when they will check again,” continued Kanke. Mike expressed how much he will miss racing with the SRL the next few months, but we are most interested in his recovery form this injury and hope that this initial surgery will be all he needs. We would ask that those who know him or have followed his career keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he recovers.
