Community Cares PFC PAMELA SHANNON

PFC Pam Shannon is the youngest of Betty Shannon’s four children. For those of you that do not know, Shannon is involved in the NASCAR Winston West. She is also a single Mom who has had a real challenge in raising her children, but is very thankful for their outcome so far. Pam or Pamie to her mom has just celebrated her first anniversary in the Army and has received three promotions already. Her goal is to be a Sergeant in the next 1.5 - 2 years. Pam is stationed in South Korea at present and recently signed on for a second year there. She was requested by her superior officers to do so and accepted the challenge. She has been top in her academics in her platoon since entering the army and has held onto second in the PT (Physical Training) with only one male who could out do her in scoring (she had 354 out of a possible 400 and he had 365). Her full name and address follows for anyone who would like to correspond with her. She is limited in time as are her buddies but any and all of them would love to hear an “atta boy” or two.   I want to share with you a letter my daughter PFC Pamela Shannon, United States Army, stationed in Korea e-mailed to me in regards to my telling her I wanted to see if the Arizona Republic would feature her as a soldier defending her country. I think she pretty much tells it like it is. If all of America could take on the attitude she has what a difference it would make to our lives, our country and the state of the world. I am very proud of her and all people who serve our country in the armed forces. This is a little girl that will be 19 on November 13th. She is awesome! She wanted to join at 17 but waited until she was 18 so I wouldn’t have to sign for her. She told me if anything happened to her she didn’t want people to think I had any responsibility in it. ...
