| Pat McIntyre, five time Cajon Speedway super stock champion, has passed away. No further details are available. Without a doubt, Pat was the all-time greatest driver who drove regularly at the track. His championships in 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976, and 1977 came during the heyday of the El Cajon Stock Car Racing Assn where it was not unusual for 80 super stocks to be in the pits on Saturday night; in those days there was often about a quarter of second separating the top twenty qualifiers in the main event.
Pat was always among the quickest. He would start at the back of the pack in the feature and then move steadily forward every week. During his career he won 44 main events.

A Great Friend & person Thanks for the Memories - Carver Motorsports / Tom Carver
Pat was a very good driver. I pitted next to pat in the 70s and he and vinnie was a good team. I will never for get the time that i threw a fuel pump in the trash can, he said don't throw that away it can be rebuilt and i picked it up, gave it to him he said thank you. Pat will missed and prayers are with your family.

When I first started racing, I also was an apprentice carpenter. Pat took me in and we worked in construction for many years together. His talents transcended racing. He seemed to be good at everything. He was innovative, tolerant, understanding and a good teacher. He knew what to say,and what not to say to get the best out of everyone. As I grew I wanted to be just like Pat. I didn't make it. He set the standard to high. - wayne tharp
Pat just did't fall into all those championships by accident; during his reign he was one of the hardest racers San Diego has ever seen. In those days, some engine performance parts were available---nothing like today---, and there were no ready-made chassis or racecar components commercially available. You constructed everything yourself. He had his engine apart every week, always looking for more power. He was always building and trying something new on his racecar for more speed. I remember him coming over to my place---on a weekly basis---; we would weld on his intake manifold runners and change his oil pan, anything for more power. He did all this while working in construction as a carpenter. His crew was always so happy; how could he ever go wrong with a dedicated guy like Vinnie Leone on his team. They pulled many all-nighters getting ready for the next day of racing. Pat McIntyre, along with Ed Hale, are truly the best of San Diego racing Hero's. I'll never forget them. - Jerry Fike
RIP Pat.
While I didn't get a chance to see Pat race, racers I really respect always talked highly of Pat, so he must have been quite a racer! - McKean Racing Family
