  Just a little something I would like to share with you... I had the opportunity to meet Ray at Winter Heat in Tucson several years ago. I always looked forward to seeing him whenever we went down south. Always smilin' and always giving me a huge hug. I had not seen him in about a year and a half, then I happened to go to the Winston West race in Monroe on June 30th. There was Ray, smilin' and eating an ONION sandwich! I said what are you doing?! (of course after I gave him a big hug!) I asked are those onions? He replied "You bet! Walla Walla Sweets!!" and let me tell you he was enjoying it. We talked for a while, he told us after that race he was driving to Kansas for the Truck race, but first he had a tee time at The Reserve in Colorado, he was so happy and excited. He was such a character, losing someone like Ray makes me realize how fragile life is. I feel very fortunate to have seen him, and to have such a great memory of him. My sincere condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed by many.

The nights are countless that he sat at the picnic table of our shop, drinking coffee and smoking away, filling us full of stories of races he's been to and things he's seen. There was never a dull moment with him around. Most importantly I'll miss teasing with him, when I knew I was right and fully understood what I was talking about and he always threw a wrench into middle of my "know". God be with you. i was in shock, as was our team the #18 and our truck team 08, one of the best times at the track was with ray in the tech line. but after the motegi race we the chance to play golf to gather, we had fun and I truly will miss my friend .

Stepping up to the Winston West I remember one of the first faces was Ray's and the very professional and serious way he took officiating Nascar and how it made me feel proud to be at this level.
