Bob and Family: My prayers are with you. I didn't know Sonny as I had only met him once or twice, but, the times I did see him. He had a beautiful smile as others have said. It has to make you feel good that you did such a good job of raising this young man. So many people have said such great things about him that you must be very proud of him. I know my son Mike and his family thought the world of him and his passing at such a young age makes you wonder why. The only thing I can say is I truly believe this is not the end but, only the beginning. We will see him again.

To all Parents I'll lend you, for a little time a child of mine he said. For you to love the while he lives and mourn for when he's dead. It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three. But will you, till I call him back take care of him for me? He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief, you'll have his lovely memories as solace to your grief. I cannot promise he will stay since all from earth return, but there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I've looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true, and from the throngs that crowd life's lanes-I have selected you. Now will you give him all your love nor think the labor vain, nor hate when I come to call to take him back again. I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord Thy will be Done." For all the joy the child shall bring the risk of grief will run. We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may, And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay; But should the angels call for him much sooner than we've planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.
  • Diane (Murdock) Karagianis

  • Hailey Wall (sonny's cousin)
Sonny was a great guy.He almost always was smiling. He was so happy.Sonny was always nice to me and my brother, if we were board he would play with us. He never ditched us for something cool his age.He was also a great driver. He was a good guy he didn't drink or smoke nor did he do any drugs. I was so sad the night I heard. My dad said ''Sonny died'' I thought he said somebody died and I asked who it was. I went outside, and back in and I ran to my room .I was alone and I cried. Iwas so mad at myself I don't even know what my last words were to him. So I cried some more. It is just not the same without him, I kept saying and I still am . Sonny I love you .As I write this there is tears in my eyes I am trying not to cry so I don't get the computer wet,the keyboard became blurry a few times.I want to say sorry to Uncle Bob and family.Just so you know I am proud of Sonny and hope that I will at least become half of what he was.May God be with you all I love you Hailey
  • Laura Wall (Bob's Sister in law)

I pray the Lord will comfort all those who are grieving for the loss of this great guy!

"A Man" Measure a man not by his victories but how he accepted his loses. Measure a man not by where he's been but how he worked to get there. Measure a man not by whom he has knocked down but by whom he helped up. Measure a man by not what he has destroyed but what he has created. Measure a man by not how many people he humiliated but by how many he left with dignity. Measure a man not by what he had but what he had given. When a man passes from this life to the next, measure him not by how he died but how he lived.
  • Bruce Bechtel

  • Omar & Amy Marhaba (MarTec)
Dearest Bob and Linda, Our deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. Below is a little poem that was given to me by my dad many years ago, that has helped me (Amy) deal with my dad's passing ten months ago. May God give you strength to carry on. I am home in heaven, dear one; Oh so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing, passed; I am now at piece forever, Safely home in heaven at last Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade? Oh! But Jesus' love illumined Every dark and fearful glade And He came Himself to meet me In that way so hard to tred; And with Jesus arms to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still: Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's Will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand; Do it now while life remaineth You shall rest in Jesus land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home; Oh the rapture of that meeting, Oh the joy to see you come!

Bob, I am so sorry. The last time I saw your son was at Irwindale Speedway driving a truck. I think Danny Grill was helping you and him out. If I remember right Sonny did not exactly have the best of nights but he still had a smile on his face. I talked with the Winchesters this morning, they are the ones that let us know of your loss. I can't say anything that will make it better. There have been so many young ones in the last few months that have left us that it is overwhelming. And every one of them was special. Words probably don't help much, but I hope somehow our prayers will help to make it easier for you to cope. I am so so sorry.

Our Prayers go out to Bob and all of REF racing at this time. The entire racing team enjoyed working with Sonny. He brought a big smile and joy to every race. Sonny touched so many of us and we will all miss him very much.
  • Peter-John Newton
Our prayers are there for you now and will continue to be lifted up for all of Sonny's family and friends and the #4 team. Time does not ease the pain - memories of special moments that touched our souls do. May God fill you with those special memories to ease the pain of your loss. Anne and Peter-John
