  November 13, 2009 -- I really appreciate the Spencer Clark foundation award. I am glad that Becky won it this year. There are so many things that make me think of Spencer. I was lucky to have known him.

  This is such a hard week each year. I wear my Red Braclet to each race to remind me that Spencer is a Champion. I get the "23"s all day and night, you know what I mean. Spencer is watching all of us and he must be the happiest when we are laughing and enjoying life. We know we will see him again and our tears will be wiped away by God's glory and rich blessings. Please know our times together are precious and our families are bound together forever now. God's path led us to be family and I am always proud that I shared moments on the phone with Spencer about his career, attitude and bright future. I remember telling him he was the Tony Stewart of the West. He gave the phone to you deb at the moment, that was Spencer. Just needed you to know that my necklace is on at the racetrack along with my bracelet. I will wear them proudly and it is an honor to know the Clark Family and have wonderful memories of our times together. Candice you are a ray of sonshine to me, and I love our time together. TJ whenever we can work in the shop together, I'm in. My glove is still making lots of outs, and it is special because we bought together.   May 20, 2008: It is coming up on two years and it is still hard for me to think of you not here. I have not wrote anything because I have not known what to say. I spent last season working out at your shop. It was the hardest thing for me to do is walk into the shop knowing damn well you were not going to be there to tell me what I was doing wrong. I think I miss that the most about you. You were always the one that told someone what messed if it hurt there feelings or not. I think uncle guy took that roll at the shop and the track. The hardest day of two years ago was going to your house the day after and sitting in your room with everyone. Sitting on your desk was a picture of you, mike and myself when we raced the shopping cart races. Isat in your room for hours and I don't think anyone really said to much of anything. I always envied the drive you had, I think your the one that pushed me to be better in my life on and off the track. I never went to or thought about the lord until your family came into my life. You still may not see me go to church all the time but once in a blue moon I will show up, but spencer you always made me feel welcome and never out of place. Well I have ran out of things to say. Its probly not that because I have lots to say its just I do not know how to word it. I want to thank you spencer for coming into my life from the first time I came over to your house when we were younger playing in your simulator still in the trailer in the old back yard to the last time I saw you when I was climbing in your busch car to turn you ignition switch on for you. I also want to thank the entire Clark family for being strong for all of us. I miss you spence

  Last weekend my grandson, Brandon Baumwoll, called me to tell me that Spencer came to him in a dream. Spencer said he was a little disappointed in the way Brandon was acting lately. Brandon was so affected by this that he promised he would behave better from now on. The family was getting ready to go to the gravesite when my grandaughter Alex stated, "I hate the wind. The wind killed Spencer." The way Spencer touched and continues to touch our lives should give you some comfort from your loss. We all miss him.

  Debbie: It was beautiful what everyone did in honor of Spencer at last night's Irwindale race. And there were so many people, that had so many good things to say. Ryan Partridge painting his car up for Spencer was very moving, the empty hauler spot, the 23 alone on the scoring, the missing car in the warmup, Bob's prayer and moment of silence. It all was so, so well done. You would have been proud. I imagine the Las Vegas tribute was very moving. I am sure Spencer felt the love last night.

  As a friend of Drew's for 15 years, I am so saddened by the suddend and tragic loss of these 2 young guys. I grew up with Drew and knew first hand what an amazing guy Drew was. He had the type of personalty that could light up a room the minute he entered it. His smile and laugh were contagious and it was hard not to be happy around him. Drew left a tremendous impact on all that he met. His heart was as big as he was tall. There is nothing that Drew wouldn't do for a friend. I find some comfort knowing that Drew was finally doing something that he truly enjoyed. There are many people that spend longer time on this earth, but there are few that will touch more while here.   Andy was my first cousin. a couple of months ago he drove down to Austin from Arizona to see me and then drove to Ohio to see his brother Anthony Phillips. I hadn't seen him in a long time. We had a good visit. He had just been hired on with racing and was so exited to be doing something again that involved competition. He loved to compete in anything.... Many people new him as "Big Red." This was a nick name given to him by his football team mates and directly reflected his size and color of hair... Andy always stood out and had great character.   Most of you on this site knew Spencer well, or at least knew of him. I would like to share a few words about Andy. Andy is my cousin. Nicknamed "ulaulanui" (Hawaiian for "Big Red") by his college football teammates, Andy had just been with the Clark team for a short time, but made a huge impact (even though we never found a shirt to fit him!). After his NFL dreams were cut short by injury, he was excited about the prospects of a career in NASCAR. Andy was a gigantic human being, but his physical size was nothing compared to the size of his heart. Big Red, I'm glad I got to know you before you left. To the Clarks, I can only say that Andy was proud to have been "adopted" by your family, much as I have been over the past few years. In losing Spencer, I feel that I have lost 2 family members today. Thank you for making us a part of your lives; your family is in my prayers.

  My favorite memory of Spencer was when he stopped by 600 Racing West on April 7th. He had just finished rebuilding his Legends Sedan. We spent about 30 minutes out front just talking about the car, and the improvements he made to it. He was really proud of it. We talked a little about his career and how things were going outside of racing. He stopped for a second and he took a photo of the # 23 on the side of his car, for the wallpaper on his cellphone. He went to the track and won that night. He also won in the last Legends race he competed in on April 15th. Spencer could flat out wheel, more importantly he was a good person. From 600 Racing our prayers go out to the entire Clark family during this difficult time.
