Community Cares Steve McElroy

RIP Steve McElroy

MONROE, Washington (January 22, 2006) -- All hearts at Evergreen Speedway are heavy with sorrow. Steve McElroy a NASCAR Bomber driver was taken from us much too early!

Steve came off his career best with a second in points after taking it to the final race of 2005 to decide the championship.

A class act, Steve will be missed by all of us at Evergreen Speedway. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and we will sorely miss his presence. God Rest!

From The Everett Herald on January 22, 2006:

Man dies while snowmobiling in mountains

A 40-year-old Everett man died while snowmobiling on Meadow Creek Pass Road between Snoqualmie Pass and Easton, the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office reported.

About 2:30 p.m. Saturday, sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a snowmobiler who had died of an apparent heart attack.

Steven R. McElroy was snowmobiling with family and friends in the Lost Lake area. During a break, the victim complained of not feeling well, then slumped over and collapsed, the sheriff's office reported.

OMG!!! I am soooo shocked about Steve's death! We dated in the early 80's and were engaged. I love him and miss him so much!! I just found this out today and am at a lost for words, Steve was such a great, loving, giving guy, the world has lost a great person...but now he's with the angles as he was an angle!! I know he has a son the same age as mine, matter of fact i remember the birthday 8-18-88, he joked with me on how that was weird, Well to his son Justine who i met when he was very very young, your dad was a wonderful person and is watching over you every minute. I love you Steve...peace be with you

Our thought and prayers are with Steve's Family. Remember the good times with him and know you will see him again one day. Keep your faith in God and He will see you through. He is with you at all times even though it doesn't seem like it sometime. God Bless you all. He will be running circles up there on that golden race track.

Just wanted to say again, how sorry I am. Steve was a great man, and a great driver at Evergreen Speedway. Rhonda and Justin, you should feel proud to have Steve as a husband and father. If you ever need anything let me know.
