| LONG TIME LYON RACING CREW CHIEF TONY PRUSA PASSES AWAY
Long time NASCAR crew chief Tony Prusa passed away last Monday, April 17, of possible heart failure, while at home. Tony was a 16 year veteran crew chief, fabricator, mechanic, and truck driver for Lyon Racing in the NASCAR Southwest Series, and was a great friend of everyone in the pits involved with the Southwest Series racing. Prusa had over 25 years experience in racing, starting at Saugus Speedway in the 1970’s, working on cars driven by Bobby Lyon, Danny O’Donnell, Steve Starr, and others. He had been an integral and loyal part of the Lyon Racing efforts for the last 16+ years, starting with the team in 1990. For the past couple of years, Tony had been helping Bobby’s son Jake Lyon with his motocross racing as well as the stock car efforts. His twin brother, Max Prusa, was the starter at Saugus for many years, and is currently the starter for the ARCA Truck Series. Tony was a great friend to all of us in the west coast racing community that was fortunate to know him and be touched by his good nature and kindness. He was a dedicated, hardworking, loyal, honest, ethical, and trustworthy friend and real family member to all of us at Lyon Racing. He will be greatly missed by us all. The funeral for Tony Prusa will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 28th, at Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary, 11160 Stranwood Avenue, Mission Hills, CA. (818) 361-7387 Source: Lyon Racing-(Bob Lyon) |
