SOUTHWEST SERIES NOTES HEADING TO TUCSON
 FEATHERLITE SOUTHWEST SERIES
 

**** Bryan Germone, the 1997 Series champion, could surpass Ron Homaday and become the richest Feathorlite Southwest Series driver in history. Germone needs $32,203 to top Hornaday's record total of $279,340. M.K. Kanke, who starts the season third on the money list, needs $53,453 to catch Homaday

**** Bob Lyon, Aqua Dulce, Calif., is 18 races away from becoming the first driver in Series history to make 200 Featherlite Southwest Series appearances, Lyon starts the season with 182.

**** Doug McCoun has the longest active streak of consecutive seasons finishing in the top 10 in the final standings. McCoun has managed top 10 finishes six straight years

**** The record for most different Bud Pole Award winners in a season is 1$, set in 1997 and tied in 1998.

**** Tucson Raceway Park has been a good place to race for the Series. In the previous three Featherlite Southwest Series points races at Tucson, 88 5 percent of the laps have run under a green flag. Since 1995, 84.5 percent of the laps have been green

**** Handicappers trying to predict who will win the 1999 Featherlits Southwest Series champion would be wise to look to the list of former Series Rookies-of-the-Year, The last three champions (Portenga, Germone and Chris Raudman) have all won that award as well The former R-O-Y winners expected to run the complete Series schedule in 1999 include Portenga, Germone, and 1998 Rookie of the Year Kurt Busch ####
