BURNS BACK ON FAMILIAR TURF
 WINSTON WEST SERIES

RON BURNS Ron Burns, driver of the #26 Ford Taurus is on familiar ground as he heads to the NASCAR Winston West Series opener at Tucson Raceway Park. Burns is no stranger to the track, winning several Modified events. His many fans are hoping that this just might be his race to win. Burns, who finished 12th in last years NASCAR Winston West Series likes another thing about the Tucson race - - TV Coverage!

RacingWest: What are your goals for the 1999 season?
Ron Burns: Plans for '99; Try to finish in top 5 points standing.

RW: Any new announcements with regards to sponsors, new paint jobs, new crew, etc.?
RB: No news on sponsors yet. Everyone I talk to wants to know about TV.

RW: What did you learn from last year that will be most helpful to you this season?
RB: From last year I learned... stay out of 3 deep in corners. Show up at races better prepared. Don't try to make too much happen. Everyone is going to race you back to the yellow. There are very few 'gentlemen' on the track. 660 horsepower just doesn't cut it. Have fun. You need a sponsor to run this series.

RW: Will you be participating in any other series this year where your fans may go to watch your race?
RB: The only other races I may be in are a couple of Saturday night races in Tucson with a Modified.

RW: What is the best part about going to Tucson?
RB: The best thing about racing at Tucson is I feel at home. I've won many feature races there in the Modified, but have been out of the top 5 in WW. I may be due to do OK this time.

RW: Is there any rule you would like to see added or removed from the Series?
RB: As for the rules, I would like to see the car and driver go across the scales together, or do it like the Cup series.

RW: Did you make a New Years Resolution?
RB: I didn't make any New Years resolution, that way I can't feel bad about breaking them. ####
