Noted Japanese photojournalist and USAC Midget driver Kazuki Saito is, together with Japanese corporate backing, looking for opportunities in NASCAR's Winston West series.

Saito was in Tucson to watch the race and meet with teams possibly interested in running him in 1999. Before becoming a photographer for Honda Corporation and Twin Ring Motegi Kazuki Saito was a successful 125-cc Grand Prix Motorcycle racer. For the last four years he has been driving in the Skip Barber Formula Dodge series and running USAC Midgets in Indianapolis.

Saito's sponsors are as yet unnamed, but they are substantial Japanese companies who are committed to long term involvement with NASCAR-type racing.
