BLUE OF SUMMER Our Saturdays Of Summer Last, Trackside Were Quite A Blast! All Divisions Battled Season Long, With Streets, Minis, Bombers And Mods. But The Pro Stock Racing Was By Far, This Years Best Class Of Car! Making His Pro Stock Rookie Debut, Was The Young Driver of The #90 Blue. He Normally Started in Back, His Honest Times Earned Him That! But He’d Bide His Time, Not Long To Wait, Cause One Mans Move Is Anothers Mistake! Their Blocking and Checking Were of No Avail, Soon A Hole Would Open and Through He’d sail, Quickly, One by One and Then Another. By Lap Five, Six or Seven There’d be No Other! Win After Win, As Few Rookies Have Done, He Drove His Race Till Title Was Won. The Record Books Now List This Rookie Blue, As The "97" Pro Stock Champion Kevin Pugh! By J. Michael for Kevin Pugh at the end of his Rookie Year 24 year old Kevin Pugh was the 1997 late model champion driving the 1996 Napa Auto Parts Chevrolet Monte Carlo. With a very successful 1996 under his belt, Kevin missed Rookie of The Year honors by only one point in the street stock division, pledging to take the 1997 Pro-Stock championship he took the top spot in the points at the first race and never looked back. Kevin has 23 race wins in 1997, including 13 main events, 2 trophy dashes, and 15 heat race victories, he has also set fast time 15 times in his 23 qualifying efforts, accomplishing a 205 point lead by years end and only one DNF due to overheating. The 98 season proved to be even better. In a 15 race season Kevin won 12 main events, 4 trophy dashes, 6 heat races, set fast time 10 times, had no DNF’s and set a new track record topping the old one that had held for four years on a deteriorating track. This kid can drive out of almost anything, it seems no matter how hard he is tagged he always saves it. Kevin has proven to be a very smart strategy driver. He has the patience hold back & wait for that one little mistake that will eventually put him at the head of the pack . His goal for 1999 is to win the Shell Tri-Track Challenge championship in California, get some South West Tour exposure and advance to Winston West as soon a finances allow. We are pursuing every thought we have on gaining contacts, sponsors, team associations or anything else that will speed up the process of advancing up the levels to ultimately be racing super truck or Winston Cup. This young man has the attitude, aptitude and desire to go the top with the right help. Video tapes hi-lighting Kevin’s racing abilities are available upon request. If you are looking for new talent to bring along to higher levels, you have got to see this kid drive.
