SCOTT GAYLORD GOING TO BATTLE
 WINSTON WEST SERIES

Scott Gaylord Racing (Donna Gaylord, Left)

The next stop for the Winston West Series will the 2nd oasis in the desert, 1 1/2-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway. And one driver that is geared up and ready to roll is the driver of the #00 Oliver Gravity Separators Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Scott Gaylord.

The results may show otherwise, but during last year's event, Gaylord ran a consistent race at the front of the pack all night long. Early in the event the NASCAR Officials had to make a tough decision to bring in Gaylord for leaking fluids on to the racing surface. After it was determined that he was not spilling any fluid on to the track, he was released from the pits, the only problem, he was now two laps down to the leaders. He was able to make up one lap and finished the race, under caution, in 14th position, one lap down, running with the leaders.

Look for Gaylord to be up front and in position to battle for the win. in a subsequent paragraph Gaylord has taken time out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions about the upcoming race.

RacingWest: What's your favorite part about racing at the Vegas Motor Speedway and why?
Scott Gaylord: I like the speed of the course and am lucky enough to be racing there for my 6th time.

RW: How do you as a driver feel about the greater speeds involved with the big tracks?
SG: The faster the better

RW: How much input do you as a driver give your crew chief as far as changes that need to be made on the chassis?
SG: I give Donna our crew chief all the information and suggestions I can and together we decide what changes to make.

RW: How do you feel your shock program will stack up against the other teams?
SG: Due to our small budget we are a little behind with our shock program. We are still using shocks we've had since 1991.

RW: Is the transition from Bias ply tires used on the short tracks to the radials used on the speedways a difficult one for you?
SG: Just the cost.

RW: Which tire (Bias ply or Radial) are you most comfortable racing with and why?
SG: We have led races on both types of tires.

RW: What tire do you plan to use at the Vegas race, Hoosier or Goodyear and why?
SG: Not sure yet.

RW: With the chance of ARCA drivers, or drivers from other divisions, will that change your driving style when you are racing with them?
SG: No

RW: With Winston Cup and Busch car owners watching the race and possibly scouting, will you change your driving style to "show off" for the car owners?
SG: No, I always race to win.

RW: What is your goal, Win? Exposure? Experience?
SG: Yes, win and exposure.

RW: Will you be doing any appearances for the fans at Vegas, if so where can they find you?
SG: We stay at the Palace Station ####
