LAMOURE HOPING FOR AN ADVANTAGE AT CAJON
 FEATHERLITE SOUTHWEST SERIES

Darrell LaMoure

With a freshly paved surface at Cajon Speedway, Darrell LaMoure is hoping this will be an advantage for his team. The Resurfacing of the historic short track will make slight changes to the driving style of the track, and LaMoure knows this. He has scheduled a test session in hopes of getting an advantage as the Featherlite Southwest Series contingent heads into the Coors Light 100 in El Cajon, California.

LaMoure is also excited to be introducing a new marketing partner for Cajon. Nations Missing Children's Organization will be appearing on LaMoure's car.

RacingWest: If you were at the Copper World, do you still have a car to race at Cajon?
Darrell LaMoure: Oh ya, I was one of the only ones that his spotter was still awake and alert! I received a distress call on the radio before I went into turn 4 and while I would have made a pass to gain a couple of spots, I choose to pull up and save the car.

RW: How has your team used their "free time" with almost 2 months between races?
DL: Most of my team spent the months relaxing and slowly preparing the two cars we have so that both are ready to go short track racing.

RW: What do you like the most about racing at Cajon?
DL: Every short track race for me anyway, is an adventure, not only are the pits close but the racing is also. These types of races have door to door style racing and this keeps everybody on their toes. I like that and it makes for a better show.

RW: On a scale of 1 to 10 what would you rate Cajon overall?
DL: All short tracks with the exception to Stockton are 10`s with me. I have a grudge against Cajon because it hasn't allowed me the opportunity to do well there or we have just missed the set up?

RW: How will your team be the "team to beat" in Cajon?
DL: starting up front will be important, also if the track has been re-paved as we hear then who knows? I am planning to test and hopefully we will find an advantage.

RW: Will you be excited to get back to the short tracks?
DL: I love short tracks this is where I started in the dirt and miss the action a lot. Our team likes this race because we can go down to the beach and play a little; this makes the trip worth while. After all racing is to be fun or why do it?

RW: Will your team be using a different racecar for this short track than it did in Phoenix?
DL: I feel as if this team has an edge (I like to think) We have two cars, one that we try to leave for the big tracks and the other for short tracks. Although in this series you use what you have at the time.

RW: Does qualifying matter here?
DL: At every race it’s important to qualify up front. The pace is quicker and cleaner for the most part. Starting in the back can quickly hurt you if you’re not cautious.

RW: What's your favorite memory of you racing at Cajon or racing in general at Cajon?
DL: Last years race when I not only took off both sides to the front of my car but the back half as well. Oh, this was in practice, nothing happened in the race. Funny how this is a good memory? It reminds me that sometimes theirs nothing you can do, its just not your turn to play!

RW: Do you have any new sponsors or team members you'll be introducing at Cajon?
DL: We have teamed up with the "Nations Missing Children's Organization" This topic has lots to cover, maybe we can do a separate story on this t another date.

RW: Will you or your team be enjoying the sites in San Diego, and if so, which ones?
DL: The beach as always.

RW: What hotels do you recommend?
DL: I haven't given this much thought, we or I just need a bed and a shower, sorry not much help.

RW: And now just for fun, who's the best flagman of them all?
DL: Pete Steel a very good old time buddy of mine. Local dirt track guy here in Arizona.

RW: What NASCAR official has the best sense of humor?
DL: Well that would have to be the old _____ Ray Judy. Of course Boo Verlatti was my favorite and in defense of our director (Danny) away from the track he's pretty cool himself. He has to be tough at the track! ####
