BAKERSFIELD, CA -- Mesa Marin Raceway held its annual open test day on Sunday in preparation for this Saturday's NASCAR Winston Racing Series "Season Opener". More than sixty teams participated in Sunday's test session, making it one of the best attended open test day's in Mesa Marin's history. Teams in attendance represented the NASCAR Winston Racing Series Late Model Stock Cars, Modified Stocks, Street Stocks, and the Ultra Wheel SPEC Truck Series.

Greg Pursley, in the Crown Motorsports Ford and defending Mesa Marin NASCAR Winston Racing Series champ Kevin Vernon, driving the AT Racing Chevrolet set the unofficial fastest laps of the day at 18.81 seconds and 18.85 seconds respectfully.

"The track has been extremely fast. At at our October Classic we broke four track records, and it looks as though we may break the Late Model track record on opening night" said Mesa Marin G.M. Larry Collins.

The Mesa Marin Raceway "Season Opener" will feature the NASCAR Winston Racing Series Late Model Stock Cars, the Modified Stock Series, Street Stocks and a Fireworks Spectacular.
