CAIN'S READY FOR A CHALLENGE
 WINSTON WEST SERIES

#71 - Jerry Cain

PHOENIX, AZ -- Jerry Cain of Canyon Country, holds a special place for Phoenix International Raceway. It was his first taste of super-speedway racing behind the wheel of a racecar. The event was the Copper World Classic Southwest Series event. He ran remarkably well that day, finishing 7th in a field of 33.

With the Napa Auto Parts 100 just around the corner, Cain is has everything complete and is busting with enthusiasm to get back on to the 1-mile oval.

RacingWest: What do you like the most about racing at PIR?
Jerry Cain: Great track that’s fun to race. It is a big track that feels like a short track.

RW: On a scale of 1 to 10 in difficulty, what would you rate PIR overall?
JC: A 7, technically it is a difficult tract to set up for, both corners have different characteristics.

RW: Do you race PIR like a short-track or superspeedway?
JC: Short Track.

RW: Have you made any special preparations for this race, like a new car or testing?
JC: We are taking two cars with possible two different setups.

RW: Considering that PIR has two distinctly different corners, which do you, set your car up for to be the best you can, or can you get both?
JC: That would be giving up too much. Knowing which corner to set up for is the secret.

RW: How will your team be the "team to beat" in PIR? What's your plan of attack for this race?
JC: Our Team's attitude. We are coming off a good run at Las Vegas and that will carry over to PIR.

RW: What's your favorite memory of you racing at PIR or racing in general at PIR?
JC: PIR was my first big track and I liked it.

RW: If you had the choice of racing the oval at PIR or the road-course at PIR, which would be your preference?
JC: Oval.

JC: Do you have any new sponsors or team members you'll be introducing at Phoenix?
RW: They are coming aboard this week and hope to announce them.

RW: Will you or your team be enjoying the sites in Phoenix, and if so, which ones?
JC: Yes, PIR.

RW: What NASCAR official has the best sense of humor?
JC: They all have a sense of humor of some kind.7 ####
