IT'S ALL ABOUT QUALIFYING FOR KEVIN PARA
 FEATHERLITE SOUTWEST SERIES

#45 - Kevin Para

EL CAJON, CA --What is the key to getting a victory at Cajon Speedway? Kevin Para thinks that it is all in a drivers starting position. He points out the fact that for the past couple of years the driver who starts on the pole is the driver that has gone on to celebrate their victory. There is nothing more that he would like to do than to bring his new sponsor, Royal Roofing, a Bud Pole Award and the Coors Light 125 Trophy.

Para also believes that the testing he had after the track had been resurfaced will be a big advantage. Later reveling a secret about the track, a bump in turn 3.

RacingWest: How has your team used their "free time" with almost 2 months between races?
Kevin Para: There is never enough time to do all the things we would like to do. Most of the time has been spent updating the equipment as well as organizing for the New Year.

RW: What do you like the most about racing at Cajon?
KP: Close to home!

RW: On a scale of 1 to 10 what would you rate Cajon overall?
KP: Every track is a 10 in my opinion!

RW: How will your team be the "team to beat" in Cajon?
KP: We have been fortunate to have tested on the new surface... I think we have a definite advantage over the other teams that are not ready for the bump in turn 3!

RW: Will you be excited to get back to the short tracks?
KP: I'm excited to get back to any track!

RW: Will your team be using a different racecar for this short track than it did in Phoenix?
KP: Unfortunately we only have one car! The choice is easy.

RW: Does qualifying matter here?
KP: Critical... Track position has proven to be the key here! The last few main event winners have started on the pole.

RW: What's your favorite memory of you racing at Cajon or racing in general at Cajon?
KP: 1996... running on the outside of Eddie, the # 76 Car, for eleven laps to finally take the lead and win the B-Main to qualify for my first A-Main Tour Race.

RW: Do you have any new sponsors or team members you'll be introducing at Cajon?
KP: We are very excited to bring Royal Roofing to the NASCAR Southwest Series as well as Alan Besant as our new Crew Chief.

RW: Will you or your team be enjoying the sites in San Diego, and if so, which ones?
KP: The El Cajon speedway is our main sight. Maybe a nice dinner after the race?

RW: What hotels do you recommend?
KP: Motel 6... they leave the lights on.

RW: What NASCAR official has the best sense of humor?
KP: Boo ####
