ANTIOCH, CA -- Chris Wadsworth Racing officially announced today its entry in this weekend's Pepsi 100 Featherlite Southwest Series Tour race at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, CA. Friday's event is part of the track's "Dodge California Truck Stop 300" Weekend featuring the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Winston West Series, Featherlite Southwest Tour Series and the weekly NASCAR Winston Racing Series. The team will head down to Bakersfield for Friday's 8:00 AM registration. It will be a full day with practice time for the Trucks and Southwest cars scheduled from 12:00 to 3:45 followed by the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Tour Pole Qualifying at 3:50. The green flag for the Pepsi 100 is set to drop at 8:00 PM. This race comes about 1 month earlier than the originally scheduled debut of Chris and his 1996 Chevy Monte Carlo Southwest Tour car. "We felt it was important to get the car and myself into a real race situation as soon as possible." Chris explained. "This is going to be a learning year and hopefully I can take this race experience and compliment it with the Irwindale Racing School to better prepare myself for the later races. We are trying to position ourselves to be a real contender in the year 2000 in both the Rookie Title and Southwest Tour Points Race." Chris will continue his pursuit of the Antioch Speedway All-Pro Series Track Championship, where he won the season opener, by making it back in time for Saturday night’s points race.
