JERRY CAIN IN A POSITION FOR FIRST WIN
 WINSTON WEST SERIES

Jerry Cain

FONTANA, CA -- Jerry Cain is definitely ready for the NASCAR Winston West Series California 200. After qualifying 13th in a field of 36 cars, he is even more confident about his race setup. In preparations for the event at California Speedway, Cain tested there just on week ago, and it definitely has helped the team.

If there isn't any unforeseen event just around the corner, Cain has positioned himself as a prime canditiate to pickup his first win.

RW: What do you like about the California Speedway?
JC: Fast! Smooth! Plenty of room.

RW: What do you dislike about the California Speedway?
JC: Hard on motors, but small price to pay for the opportunity to race there.

RW: Since the Winston West is running the same weekend as the Busch and Cup series, there may be some drivers from those series cross over and run with the Winston West. What is your position on these drivers from other series racing with the Winston West?
JC: Some of the big names helps the series bring in the crowds, but I don't think that will have an effect that weekend, the fans that make a weekend of it will be there anyway. Drivers like Ken Schrader have helped races out west making appearances when there was not even a Cup connection. The down side is there are drivers who cherry pick our best races and do not support the in between shows.

RW: Fontana is the fastest track on the WW circuit. Do you feel that your team will have the horsepower to run up front?
JC: Our team has never had a shortage of horsepower, we would like to buy some luck if you know where it is for sale.

RW: It will probably be quite warm at Fontana what do you do as a driver to prepare your self for the heat and fatigue of running under those kind of conditions?
JC: Personally I try to stay in shape to offset fatigue, as far as the heat goes you deal with it the same as the other drivers.

RW: Does your team have a good down force car ready for Fontana?
JC: Yes, you need all you can get.

RW: Has your team been practicing pitstops? If so how is there progress coming?
JC: We are working on it. ####
