POTASHNICK READY TO PUT UP A FIGHT
 WINSTON WEST SERIES

Sammy Potashnick

FONTANA, CA -- Sikeston, Missouri's Sammy Potashnick is ready to hit the NASCAR Winston West Series fastest track. The 2-mile California Speedway will be the battle ground for him as he wages war against 35 other capable drivers. It will be an all out speed fest, just the way Potashnick likes it. He will be pulling out all the stops and he plans to let nothing stand between him and a victory at California Speedway. When the checkered flag falls on Saturday don't be surprised if it the car that is first across the line is the #65.

RacingWest: What do you like about the California Speedway?
Sammy Potashnick: I like the California Speedway because it is a two-mile track. I really like super speedways. I am also pleased that we have television coverage for this race, even if it is delayed. I really wish that all of the Winston West races had some television coverage.

RW: What do you dislike about the California Speedway?
SP: The only thing I can think of that I dislike about the California Speedway is that the race is only 100 laps. I would have liked it to be longer.

RW: Since the Winston West is running the same weekend as the Busch and Cup series, there may be some drivers from those series cross over and run with the Winston West. What is your position on these drivers from other series racing with the Winston West?
SP: I enjoy racing with any of the Winston Cup and Busch drivers. I feel any competition is good. The only negative side of this is equipment. It's hard to compete with the amount of moneys that the Cup and Busch teams have available. And with this, and their experience they usually get all of the glory.

RW: Fontana is the fastest track on the WW circuit. Do you feel that your team will have the horsepower to run up front?
SP: Yes, Wegner Motorsports furnishes all of our motors, and so far he has provided the horsepower we have needed.

RW: It will probably be quite warm at Fontana what do you do as a driver to prepare your self for the heat and fatigue of running under those kind of conditions?
SP: The weather should not be a problem because my team travels from North Carolina for all the races and here in North Carolina, it is usually hot and humid.

RW: Does your team have a good down force car ready for Fontana?
SP: Not really, but I am running the same car I ran at Las Vegas, and I had a 4th place finish.

RW: Has your team been practicing pitstops? If so how is their progress coming?
SP: Yes, we are practicing pitstops and plan to practice Saturday before we leave for California. ####
