SOUTHWEST SERIES NOTES HEADING TO IRWINDALE
 FEATHERLITE SOUTHWEST SERIES
 

** This is the first visit to Irwindale Speedway by a member Series of NASCAR’s Touting Division. The Series will race at Irwindale two more times this season.

** Kurt Busch, Las Vegas, Nev., is second in the championship point standings. He is the only driver in the top 14 with a victory this season.

** Craig Raudman, Redding Calif. has led the most laps this season (163) and leads the Gatorade Front Runner Award standings with eight points. Steve Christian, Steve Portenga, Gary Lewis and Busch are tied for second place with five each.

** Scott Lynch, Burley, Jdaho, leads the Rookie of the Year standings with 38 points. Nick Joanides, Woodland Hills, Calif, and John Baker, Tucson, Ariz., are tied with 35 each.

** Five drivers have won Bud Pole Awards this season. The record for the most different drivers winning Bud pole Awards in a season is 13, set in 1997. The Bud Pole Award winners this season have been:

  • Tucson: Jim Inglebright (Fairfield, CA)
  • Phoenix: Mike Grady (Farmington, NM)
  • El Cajon: Craig Raudman (Redding, CA)
  • Bakersfield: Greg Pursley (Newhall, CA)
  • Las Vegas: Matt Crafton (Tulare, CA)

** In the April 17 Las Vegas 100, 20 of the 24 starters were still on the track at the end of the race.

FEATHERLITE FACT OF THE WEEK:
Bryan Germone the points leader heading into the Irwindale 100, is second on the all-time Series money list with $256,497 He still trails Ron Hornaday Jr. for the all-time lead. If Germone continues the per-race winning average he maintained in 1997 and 1998, he could become the first Series driver to crack the 300,000 mark by the middle of’ the 2000 season Horanday's career total is $279,340. ####
