CAMERON LOOKS TO DO ABOVE AVERAGE AT PPIR
 WINSTON WEST SERIES

Austin Cameron

Austin Cameron has competed in all 4 of the NASCAR Winston West Series events this year. Producing two top 5 finishes, both of these at super speedways. After being collected in a racing incident at the last NWWS event at Fontana, this young man's average finish dropped down to a 12.8. The team is looking to raise the averages back up however. And how better to do so then with a very successful run at Pike Peak International Raceway. Cameron is currently 4th in the standings.

Like many of the drivers Cameron knows it is the fans that support racing. He always looks forward to meeting the fans and signing autographs, unless he is doing his office stint, getting ready to qualify or race!

Team: AC Motorsports
Car: #12
Driver: Austin Cameron
Owner: Terry Cameron

RacingWest: What is your overall impression of the Pikes Peak International Raceway?
Austin Cameron: It is a great place to race. The facilities are really tuned into the racer and what they need. The track is really smooth and I really enjoy traveling to the track, the weather and the surroundings are ideal

RW: How do you think the high altitude will effect you as a driver?
AC: It is a little tough to breathe but as long as you acclimate yourself for a day or so it should be fine.

RW: How do you think the lower air pressure of the high country will affect horsepower production of your engine?
AC: The jetting will be the only thing we have to worry about but we have instruments that will get us pretty close to where we need to be. The higher the altitude the less air there is for fuel to burn therefore we will need to decrease the size of the jet which will let less fuel into the motor.

RW: With this race being 150 laps, how will the pit strategy be different from the 200-lap race of a year ago?
AC: We will probably be able to go with one less pit stop.

RW: What are the major differences between the last track the NASCAR Winston West Series raced at, the California Speedway and Pikes Peak International Raceway?
AC: Pikes Peak will require more gear and a little less front bar for the corners.

RW: What changes do you regularly make between practice, qualifying and the race?
AC: springs, front and rear sway bars, and shocks.

RW: How do you size up the competition level in the Series this year with so many drivers from last year gone and so many new ones competing?
AC: The competition is probably about the same just some new faces around the track.

RW: Based on your agenda for the end of the season, where are you now in relationship to where you planned to be at this time?
AC: We were right on track but after California Speedway things are a little different. We just need a real strong finish this weekend and things will be looking up again.

RW: Will your team be doing any special promotions for sponsors during this weekend?
AC: We will be in the pits before and after the races. Anytime I don't look busy is a good time for someone to ask me for an autograph. I really enjoy signing autographs because the fans are really what keep us racers going. ####
