Saturday night racing action brought the 1/2 mile Irwindale Speedway to life last night. The fans were treated to five-classes of racing with five main events. Greg Pursley won the NASCAR Super-Late Model event. Pursley was the winner of last weekend's NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series (Tour) race at the track. However, Pursley who led the Tour race wire to wire was collected in a racing incident on the first lap of the late model race that night and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Not hindered by last week's injury, Pursley made a strong come back in tonight's race. Once he gained the lead he never looked back. Brian Barron, Brian Kelley, Ben Walker and Russell White rounded out the top-five. The Speed Trucks went for 51 laps. Gilbert, Arizona driver Darren Young held off a hard charging Frank Steiner to finish first. Third place went to John Holmes followed by Richard Franz. Ron Peterson came in fifth. In the MSRA Pro-4 Modifieds, Jim Warden raced to the checkered flag followed by Mike Wright, Tim Gardner, Tim Mitchell and Mike Adams. Pole-sitter Kenny Smith suffered electrical problems and was not able to finish the race. It was Mike Peace taking the victory in the Allison Legacy cars followed by Craig Crossland, Mark Laeger, Stephen Peace and Dustin Ruetner. The Street Stock event was won by Albert Sallie. Mike Pope, Alex Romo, Kevin Fleischer and Luis Del Real completed the field.
