BAKERSFIELD, CA -- NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Kevin Harvick came back to Bakersfield for some drive time before the hometown fans. But the two-time Mesa Marin track champion and 1998 NASCAR Winston West Champion doesn't get into a race car unless he plans to win. He did just that in last night's NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series and "almost" made it two for two in Sunday's Late Model Stock Car "Mechanix Wear 100". Starting on the pole, he jumped to an early lead. ike Alsup, Mike Duncan and Kevin Vernon were his closest competitors, but he never gave any of them an advantage until lap 97 when his right front tire went down and he found himself up against the turn four wall. Harvick went to the garage and Mike Alsup went to Victory Circle for his second win of 1999 and keep him in first place in points in the NASCAR Winston Racing Series. Harvick changed cars to go on to race the NASCAR Winston West "Forum Marketing 200." WINSTON LATE MODELS Division Race Results
