Team5Star and driver, Carson Woods Jr., were strong at Mesa Marin last week for practice and qualifying. They credited this to a new suspension set-up with Penske shocks and adjustments at the track. After qualifying, Woods had a great autograph session with the kids at Mesa, representing Team5Star and their efforts to promote racing and team spirit.
The evening race was a challenge and Woods suffered a setback at the beginning of the main. He was caught up in a pile-up that took him back to the pits where his crew worked aggressively and got him back to the track to finish the race. For Woods and Team5Star it was all a day at the track and when it was over it would be only a few short days until the team did it all over again at Colorado National Speedway.
The team came back strong after their eventful week in Bakersfield at the Mesa. They headed to Colorado for the next Tour event and were visited by Mr. (Danny) Grill, Director of the NASCAR Southwest Series. He worked with the team as they setup their car for qualifying. Again, Carson ran strong but suffered a new day of collisions on the 70th lap taking him out of the race with major body damage and a broken rear end. Team5Star\Carson Woods states the team will be back for more at the next Tour event, Rocky Mountain Raceway near Salt Lake City. Lets Go Race!
