GLENDORA, California -- What a night! The Glendora Auto Tech Motorsports Ford Taurus driven by Joe Bean put on a show for the hometown fans this last Saturday night at the new Irwindale Speedway. The team figured that the Goodyear tires might not qualify up front but that they would be one heck of a tire during the race and they were right!
Joe quickly moved his way up to the front of the field and started pulling away. A malfunction with the scoring clock created some confusion in the arly going and a couple of the other drivers figured that they could get scored faster by going in and out of the pits rather than by going all the way around. The malfunction with the clock was fixed but the damage was done. "
We had the car to beat. The set-up was superb, our pit-stops were awesome and it looked like this was going to be our night" said a disappointed Joe Bean. " Racing three wide coming out of turn two we got hit by a car that was two laps down. It cut our tire down and put us in the fence. The crash damaged the right front suspension and there was nothing that we could do to get back in the race. We lost a little ground in the points chase but hope to make it up in Monroe Washington at our next event."
