LUSK LETS STATS DO TALKING

Damon Lusk NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Touring Series

Every time Damon Lusk's name is brought up it seems we are talking stats. But it is hard not to. He has had six top-tens, including a podium finish at the Irwindale Speedway.

This weekend Lusk will drive his No. 40 America OnLine Chevrolet in the NAPA 125 on the Colorado National Speedway at (Dacono Colo.) Currently enjoying being 2nd in the NASCAR Featherlite Touring standings, he is counting on a Techcraft Racing Engine to help him protect his points position.

Lusk feels that CNS is one of the best tracks the Series races at and appreciates the fan support there. Last time the Series visited CNS there was an autograph session in the pits after the race. There should be again. Don't miss your opportunity to meet Damon Lusk and the other stars of the NASCAR Featherlite Series. This is the last tour they make to Colorado this season!

Team: Mark IV Motorsports
Driver: Damon Lusk

RacingWest: Is the set up for CNS the same as Utah?
Damon Lusk: Ours is very close, just a little different shock combination.

RW: Does the thinner air give less down-force on the spoiler?
DL: Since the track is only a 3/8 mile track, I think it makes it hard to feel any air since the speeds are not that fast.

RW: I understand the late model division is good up there. Is this the best bunch of locals you see all year?
DL: I think that there is a couple of guys that are really good, but they have more laps than any one else there...

RW: Does the altitude change the way they set the engine and aero packages?
DL: Techcraft Racing Engines fines tunes the engine at the track and there is a big change in jets I do know, but our aero package stays the same as any other track.

RW: Thin air equates to less horsepower how do you as a driver compensate for it?
DL: Drive in deeper, get off the corner faster!

RW: How would you rate the track at Colorado?
DL: I think its one of the nicer tracks that we race at, and the fans seem to really like the racers.

RW: What is the trickiest part of the track?
DL: I think the most important part of the track is getting off turn two really well so that you can nudge underneath the guy in front of you.

RW: What is your crew-chiefs name and what was his best call this year?
DL: Duane Sharp of Petaluma, Ca. His best call of the season, (other than making the car go fast every week) was switching our motor program over to Techcraft Racing Engines. I believe that we have as much or more horsepower than anyone, and reliability is second to none.

RW: The Southwest Series is one of the best things going. Do you see any way it could be made even better?
DL: I think that if there were a little more money in the purse more teams could afford to go to more races.

RW: What is your thought on wheel-tethers? Driver: Its a great idea. Especially from a fans point of view.

RW: Any special plans while in Colorado or do you know any good places to dine?
DL: Yea, bring home a race car that is still in one piece.

RW: Where can the fans catch you for an autograph?
DL: In the pits of course, and last time they had an autograph session after qualifying.
