POTASHNICK READY TO ROLL IN THE ROCKIES

NASCAR Winston West Driver Sammy Potashnick

Sammy Potashnick is one of the young guns in NASCAR's elite Winston West division. Winning the Bud Pole award at Irwindale showed even the veterans he had skill, equipment and determination. If not for a tire blowing out he may have won the race.

Potashnick has raced for a couple years in the Winston West, but this is his rookie year and he has put on a great performance. He has faced stiff competition from friend and fellow rookie contender Jason Small. Each has been the ROY points leader, each has won poles, and each is looking for a sponsor.

Potashnick had a chance to test at Salt Lake and he like several drivers, have compared it to Tucson. He did okay at Tucson. In fact Potashnick has finished in the top-ten 50 percent of the time and Tucson was one of those tracks. Look for this young driver to run hard, run good and hey if you want to sponsor him...it's not too late!

RacingWest: Have you had a chance to test or drive Rocky Mountain Raceway? If yes, what was your opinion, if no what have you heard about it from others that have raced it?
Sammy PotashnickYes, I did test RMR. It is a very nice track with a good surface. We should be able to race two wide all night.

RW: What track do you think RMR will most resemble and will you start off with your set-ups from that track?
SP: RMR is very similar to Tucson.

RW: What are your hopes/expectations for Rocky Mountain Raceway?
SP: I want to come out with a top-10 qualifying run and a top-5 finish.

RW: The Southwest Tour came back from their first event at RMR with nothing but good things to say about the enthusiastic fans and the track promoters. Are you excited to go to an event where they want to see you race that much?
SP: Yes, very much so. The fans at Irwindale were great and I'm looking forward to the same type of crowd at RMR.

RW: This event has TV coverage are you selling this to sponsors?
SP: Yes, but we don't have one at this time.

RW: Do you have any sight seeing plans lined up for this trip?
SP: My girlfriend lives in Ogden for a few months and I'm spending the week with her. I'll also be spending time in Southern Utah where I went to college at Southern Utah University in Cedar City.
