WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE

NASCAR Winston West Cars

Can you figure out what is wrong with this picture?

Certainly not the cars, they look as good as any NASCAR Winston Cup car. Not the track. No one has anything bad to say about this super-speedway, it's the same one the Winston Cup cars compete on. Well maybe it's the drivers. No, the drivers are as good and competitive as they get.

Give up? Okay, I'll tell you what is wrong with this picture. It is the sponsor on the cars, there isn't one.

That is about to change, or at least everyone hopes it will. Want to know how? At the end of this month there is a workshop for past, present and future NASCAR Winston West car owners. The purpose of the workshop is to pool resources and ideas and promote the series. It was, after all, a car owner that brought Winston to NASCAR.

This is a workshop for what can be done, not what isn't being done. There will be speakers from various forms of motorsports to discuss how to creatively market the series followed by a discussion period of all involved. Organizer of the event, Larry J Pryor, announced that respected short-track owner Marion Collins will lead the open discussion session and keep it on a positive track. Said Pryor, "We are thrilled to have Marion Collins. He has been a very important part of promoting racing in the west and is highly regarded by his peers and car owners."

In addition to moderating the open discussion Collins will address the issues of what it is going to take to bring 40,000+ fans to a short track event. And what a short track looks for and requests from team owners to promote a race.

Look for more news and speakers to be announced soon as the details of this event unfold.
