Brett Thompson drove the #61 Rich Thompson Trucking/Windmill Inns/Richardson Cap Chevy Monte Carlo to a 3rd place finish Saturday night at the NASCAR Grand National West Series NAPA 150 at Irwindale Speedway.

After qualifying 10th, Thompson drove the Thompson Motorsports entry forward through the field to 5th place by lap 33 and into 4th place by lap 60. Thompson advanced to 3rd at lap 67, which he held until the scheduled halfway break at lap 75. Thompson advanced to 2nd place on lap 100. However contact with another car attempting a pass dropped Thompson to 3rd place on lap 127. Thompson made a great save keeping the car off the wall although NASCAR threw the yellow flag expecting an accident. With damage to the car Thompson finished in 3rd place.

According to Crew Chief Rob Dixon, Thompson Motorsports ran the same car and setup combination they have used and fined tuned over the last 5 races where they have scored 4 Top-5 finishes including their first West Series win.

After the race Brett Thompson commented, "Last week wasn't a fluke (win at Mesa Marin), this team is for real and we are looking forward to the 2005 season".

Even though Irwindale was the West series finale, Thompson Motorsports is extending their season one more race by entering their Southwest Tour Rich Thompson Trucking/Windmill Inns/Richardson Cap Chevy Monte Carlo at Phoenix Nov. 4th for Brett Thompson to drive in the Cruise America 125.

Thompson and Dixon look forward to carrying their momentum to Phoenix and hitting on their setup combination again.
