ROCKLIN, California -- For a second straight year, Austin Cameron, driver of the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet in the NASCAR Grand National Division West Series for Bill McAnally Racing, has been awarded the title of Most Popular Driver. This is a special honor voted on by the drivers in the series.
Cameron was overwhelmed as he accepted this honor at the NASCAR Grand National Division West Series Awards banquet at the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas.
“I don’t know what to say,” said Cameron. “Last year I thought I received it because of my battle with cancer. To receive this honor this year means so much more to me especially knowing that it comes from these drivers. Each and every one of them deserves this honor also.”
“This was my last season as a series regular and I want to thank NAPA AUTO PARTS for their support these last three years. I want to thank Bill McAnally for the opportunity he has given me. I especially want to thank the team at BMR. Doug George and the NAPA boys put their heart and soul into getting the job done and it has been great to be a part of that kind of team.”
Looking to take the next step forward, Cameron, who finished the 2004 Grand National West Series season second in points and led the series with five wins, is pursuing other opportunities in NASCAR’s premier series.
The first race of the NASCAR Grand National Division West Series will be at Phoenix International Raceway on January 29, 2005. For more information on Bill McAnally Racing, please consult our webpage at www.billmcanallyracing.com.![]()
