SACRAMENTO, California -- The hustle of one man will make a brighter day for someone less fortunate. USAC Western Sprint Car Champion Tony Hunt of Fair Oaks, CA. organized a fun day of go-kart racing at the pristine RPM Indoor Karting complex Sunday afternoon. The 3rd Annual Tony Hunt Celebrity Race Event pitted professional race drivers with amateurs willing to pony up $150 for the sake of charity, and a chance to race with pros.

Teams of four drivers numbered to 30 were competing for trophies through a variety of team racing events. But the competition was secondary to the primary goal of raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. 100% of all proceeds were donated directly to the local chapter of Make-A-Wish.

“The final tally was $14,000”, said an excited Hunt. “The support of the fans and racers was fantastic, and the RPM facility is absolutely first-class. Our title sponsor, Big Valley Mortgage, deserves a high-five. It was a great day.”

Championship-level pro racers were the stars of the indoor kart racing on two different tracks. Memo Gidley, Jimmy Sills, Gary Ormsby Jr., Michael Lewis, Andy Forsberg, David Robinson Jr., Johnny Rodriguez, and Chuck Gurney Jr., just to name a few, were sporting smiles as they left the track. RPM employee and aspiring racing star, Benny Moon, broke the facility one-lap track record during the day of racing. Early in the first heat, Gurney Jr. was the first to set a new standard for the “Dr. Pepper track”. The winning team was captained by late model driver Jason Fensler.

Also participating were Bradley Galedridge, Audra Sasselli, Mike Murgoitio, Jim Miller, John Moore, Carrie Miller, Destiney Hays, Eric Homes, Burney Lamar, Jack Sellers, Bob Panella, Mike Henry, Mike Cofer, and Sacramento River Cats mascot Dinger. Paid participants received a catered lunch by Village Bistro, an event T-shirt, a gift bag with event sponsor items, a team photo with the Umbrella Girls, and RPM racing coupons.####
