LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Looking for a repeat performance of the last time he played there, Scott Lynch is heading for Phoenix International Raceway and the opening round of the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series, Sunday, January 30.
"This should be a good race," says Lynch, who drives the 08 Dodge. "The Orleans crew have prepped my Dodge and it should be good. We took the Number One spot here last fall and w took the pole and won here the year before. In fact we also set a new track record with a race time of 114.262 mph. "Now we want to do it again. I like racing at Phoenix. It definitely suits my style of driving and our Dodge combined with our Kroyer Racing power is just the right ticket. In fact, this has always been a good track for us with the exception of this last year's season opener where a water leak put us out of contention."
Lynch, who took the West title in 2003 ended last season in 5th overall. "We had an up and down year," says the Burley, Idaho native, who also took the victory at Roseburg, Ore. "We got a whole new crew and suffered a number of bad luck incidents. It was hard going for awhile, but luck sometimes runs that way and I'm sure that this year will be a much better one."
A definite hard charger, Lynch has more than proven his power behind the wheel and there is no doubt that he will continue to do so. "Our whole crew is definitely motivated for this one. There are some really good racers entered like Kenny Schrader and Kevin Harvick, plus some of the Busch North guys, so the racing should be excellent. The competition will definitely be stiff and that's the type of racing I enjoy. I tend to thrive on hard challenges and that adds even more motivation."
Qualifying for the 100 Lap United Rentals 100 takes place on Sunday, January 30 at 10:30 AM and race action begins at 3 PM. TV coverage will be carried on HDNet.![]()
