NASCAR HONORS TOP TRACKS WITH ANNUAL TEAM PLAYER AWARDS

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 13, 2005) – Several leading NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series track operators were honored with NASCAR’s annual “team player” awards. NASCAR President Mike Helton was on hand for the awards ceremony, held Sunday, Feb. 13 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach.

The awards are given annually to tracks in recognition of their contributions to the sport of NASCAR racing. Award-winning tracks have demonstrated excellence in promotion, competition and facility operations. This year’s winners include:

South Boston Speedway – South Boston, Va.

Track operator: Cathy Rice

Langley Speedway – Hampton, Va.

Track operator: Debbie Norman

Kalamazoo Speedway – Kalamazoo, Mich.

Track operators: Gary and Donna Howe

Raceway Park – Shakopee, Minn.

Track operator: John Hellendrung

Waterford Speedbowl – Waterford, Conn.

Track operator: Terry Eames

Jennerstown Speedway – Jennerstown, Pa.

Track operators: Dave and Jennifer Wheeler

Evergreen Speedway – Monroe, Wash.

Lanier National Speedway – Braselton, Ga.

In addition, several special awards were presented to recognize outstanding efforts in the following areas: Best Advertising: Colorado National Speedway, Erie, Colo.; Best Sponsor Activation: LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway, LaCrosse, Wis.; Best Souvenir Program: Lakeside Speedway, Kansas City, Kan.; Best Event Hospitality: Motor Mile Speedway, Radford, Va.; “Top John” Award (Best Restrooms): Caraway Speedway, Asheboro, N.C.; Community Service: Kil-Kare Speedway, Xenia, Ohio; Best Concessions: Magic Valley Speedway, Twin Falls, Idaho; Best First-Year NASCAR Track: Delaware Speedway, Delaware, Ontario, Canada; Best Electronic Track Newsletter: Adams County Speedway, Corning, Iowa; Best Existing Facility Under New Management: Nebraska Raceway Park (I-80) Speedway, Greenwood, Neb.; Best Website: Lanier National Speedway, Braselton, Ga.; Jim Hunter “Spirit of Weekly Racing” Award: Bowman Gray Stadium, Winston-Salem, N.C.; Best Public Relations: Greenville-Pickens Speedway, Greenville, S.C.
