LAS VEGAS, Nevada – If many of Las Vegas’ celebrities and dignitaries are gamblers, it appears that most of them would be wagering heavy on hometown favorite Kurt Busch to win Sunday’s UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
In a poll conducted by LVMS, four out of eight VIPs predicted Kurt Busch to win Sunday’s event while two others picked either Kurt or his younger brother Kyle to win.
“I am going with anyone named Busch,” said Rep. Shelley Berkley, D-Nev.
Robin Leach, former star of Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous, had a more scientific approach.
“Kurt has already gotten a second and a third this year, he’s due for a first,” Leach said. “Besides, he also used to be my neighbor in Vegas.”
In addition, UNLV basketball coach Lon Kruger, Nevada Secretary of State Dean Heller and North Las Vegas Mayor Mike Montandan all picked Kurt Busch. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman picked either Kurt or Kyle Busch.
But not everyone jumped on the bandwagon of the hometown drivers.
Comedian Lance Burton picked Jeff Burton and Gen. Stephen Goldfein of Nellis Air Force Base selected Ricky Rudd, who drives the Air Force-sponsored Ford.
