SARAH FISHER ON THE MOVE IN THE NASCAR GRAND NATIONAL WEST SERIES DRIVER POINTS STANDINGS

ROCKLIN, California -- NASCAR Grand National Division West Series driver Sarah Fisher faced her first short track driving the heavy cars of NASCAR and brought home a top-twenty. Fisher and the #20 Dominos Pizza/NAPA Filters Chevrolet crossed the finish line in 16th place, 2 laps down after a late in the race flat tire took them off the lead lap. Fisher moved up seven positions to 13th in the NASCAR West Series points standing and is currently 5th in the chase for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year title.

Fisher and the #20 Dominos team started the race in 22nd but by lap 21, had moved into 15th on the board. The car continued to move forward and by lap 31, they were up to 12th. During the third of seven cautions of the night at lap 43, Fisher brought the car in and the Dominos team made some quick adjustments. During a long caution at lap 68, Fisher pitted again. Nearing the end of the race, the #20 Dominos/NAPA Filter Chevrolet came to the pit box under green to change a flat right rear tire which put them 2 laps down in 16th where they would finish the race.

“I think I finally understand my race car now and I got my first flat tire which was an experience,” laughed Fisher. “I tried every combination of driving during this race and found out what works on a West Series car and what doesn’t. I learned a lot during this race. I think that this race has turned me in the right direction as far as driving in NASCAR stock car. Our Dominos team with crew chief, Mario Isola is really coming together and I feel that we’re going to gain a lot of ground in the chase for the rookie title when we get to our next race at Phoenix.”
