STOCKTON, California -- Granite Bay's John Moore had a great night, he made a clean-sweep of the HAVOLINE Western Late Model division, checking in with the fast time, dash and 30-lap main win.

"It feels good," said Moore. "My guardian angel, JD, was with me all night." Moore's son JD Moore, 15, perished in a track accident in October 2004.

Following Moore with a second place finish was NASCAR Diversity program driver Allison Duncan of San Rafael. Duncan was driving the number 20 Bill McAnally Western Late Model, Moore's car is also supported by Bill McAnally racing. Both Moore and Duncan credited their finishes to the veteran NASCAR race shop.

"These two cars (Moore's and Duncan's) sit side by side in the shop all week," said Duncan. "John picks his up on Saturday and its ready to go."

Duncan, who finished sixth in the Sunday, April 3 100-lap opener, said that she and the team were "very happy with the progress" made in this second event of the season.

Moore started at the pole, with Duncan at second. At the Green Moore jumped into a quick lead with Duncan tailing. Texas' Chad South brought up the first yellow with a spin out on turn-4 in lap-3. At the green, Moore quickly recaptured the lead and Duncan fell into line at second.

By lap-5, the pack was stretching out into a single-file line with Moore continually stretching his lead. The clean race went smooth the rest of the night.

Rounding out the Western Late Model pack were Stockton's Gary Shafer Jr. (3rd), Stockton's Chris Monez (4th) and Turlock's Pete Anderson Jr. (5th).

In the Grand American Modified 50-lap main event Newark'sTed Montague IV started the race at the pole, Salida's Sam Solari jumped into a quick lead from the number 2 position. Lap-3 brought up the first yellow flag when Citrus Heights' Ryan Baumgartner spun out heading into turn-2. Without even making it a lap, Montague IV spun out in turn-3 bringing out the second yellow of the evening and ending his night. At the green, Solari quickly jumped back out into the lead with Stockton's Chris Mays on his tail. By lap-18, Citrus Heights Jay Linstroth had battled his way up from the 11th position into the lead, but by lap-28 fuel problems ended what could have been his night. At the lap-28 restart, with only eight cars left, Ripon's Mike Regelman started on the inside with Solari to his right. Solari jumped into the lead with Regelman moving to his tail. The gaps closed slightly through the turns, but it was looking as if Solari just had the faster car as he continually pulled away on the straight-aways.

By the time lap-40 rolled around, betting men were beginning to lay down money on Solari and his strong lead, it turned out to be a sure thing as he took the checkered flag.

Rounding out the Grand American Modifieds top five were Ripon's Regelman (2nd), Modesto's Kyle Cotulla (3rd), Tracy's Jason Philpot (4th) and Dixon's Jerry Dubach.

Manteca's Johnny Cardoza picked up the first ever paycheck in CL BRYANT American Limited Stock Car racing. Cardoza's son Jacob started at the pole with dad right behind. Jacob led for the first 14 laps until Johnny took it over and held it through to the end.

Following the leader in ALSC racing were Modesto's Charlie Clawson (2nd), Manteca's Boyd Camper (3rd), Stockton's Richard Harper (4th ), and Stockton's Joe Allen (5th).

In Pro-4 Trucks competition Milpitas' Ron Robeck set a new record in qualifying with a 15.306. Then he came back and won the 30-lap main.

On Sunday, April 3 Robeck's previous record set in 2004 was broken by Lodi's Danny Basto, Robeck said that he was happy to come back and recapture it. This marked the third time in two seasons that Robeck set the record.

Campbell's Chris Drysdale finished second, French Camp's Mark Henslee landed in third, Lodi's Mike Curry came in fourth and Ripon's Tim Fernandes finished fifth.

Stockton 99 Speedway saw a couple of firsts Saturday night. The CL Bryant American Limited Stock Cars division paid out its first winner purse and the track fielded mother and son drivers; ALSC driver Sheila Wall and California Mini Cup Association driver Justin Wall, 12, both of Oakdale.

"I'm enjoying everything about it," said Justin. "The speed and the competitiveness, it's amazing."

The drivers have Stockton 99 Speedway in their blood. According to Justin's father, Lydell, Sheila's father Tom Laughron ran at Stockton 99 Speedway in the late 40's and early 50's in the Jalopy division. Justin's grandfather James Reeves was also a Jalopy competitor and his uncles Randy and Jimmy Reeves both raced Pure Stock and Late Model Sportsmen's cars at the track. Mom Sheila has been driving at Stockton 99 Speedway for several years.

In California Mini Cups Association racing, Jacob Gomes of Manteca finished first, Johnathan Hale of Rio Linda came in seccond, Robert Czub of Sacramento finished third, Jerry Fellman of Roseville came in fourth and Scott Chapeta of Livermore placed fifth.

Racing continues at Stockton 99 Speedway next Saturday, with Western Late Model, ALSC, Pro-4 Trucks and Grand America Modified events. On Saturday, April 30, HDNet TV (High Deffinition Television) and Speed Channel will set up camp at Stockton 99 Speedway for the big AutoZone Twin Championships, a NASCAR doubleheader with over $150,000 in winnings, featuring the Grand National West and AutoZone Elite Southwest Tour Series.
