STOCKTON 99 SPEEDWAY TO SHOWCASE NASCAR WEST SERIES & SW TOUR

STOCKTON, California -- On Saturday, April 30 fans and drivers from all over the world will converge on Stockton 99 Speedway for more than 300 laps of NASCAR Grand National Division West Series, NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division Southwest Series and CL BRYANT American Limited Stock Car racing!

This big AutoZone twin championship night presented by HAVOLINE, will pay out more than $150,000 in winnings and feature 150 laps of West Series and 100 laps of Southwest Series racing. Stockton 99 Speedway's CL CRYANT American Limited Stock Cars will run a 30-lap main event.

Expected to run in the West Series race is Stockton 99 Speedway's own John Moore. On Saturday, April 16 Granite Bay's Moore proved that he was dialed into Stockton 99 Speedway like no other when he swept the HAVOLINE Western Late Model division. Granite Bay's Moore may have an added emotional edge, as he is racing this season in honor of the memory of his late son JD, who perished in a track accident. However, he will be facing some tough competitors.

Also challenging for the checkered flag will be last season's Stockton 99 Speedway West Series 200-lap race winner Mike David of Modesto. David is currently fourth in points and has finished in the top five twice this season. Also there will be current points leader and 2003 champ Scott Lynch of Burley, Idaho, and defending champ Mike Duncan of Bakersfield. Five time Indy 500 veteran Sarah Fisher will also make a run for the money. These competitors are going to put on a show that will bring the crowd to its feet and make even the most discerning NASCAR fans take notice.

The US isn't the only country fielding drivers seeking to win the 150-lap race on the super speedy quarter-mile track. Jose Luis Ramirez of Mexico City, Mexico, Daryl and Carl Harr, both of Alberta, Canada, and Takuma Togo of Nogoya, Japan will field cars.

Saturday night's Southwest Series race should prove to be every bit as exciting as the West Series contest. Challenging for a win will be division points leader Burney Lamar, of West Sacramento, who made a skilled move toward the end of last week's West Series 150-lap race in Arizona to capture the win. Also seeking a spot in victory lane will be last season's Southwest Series champ, and current second place holder, Jim Pettit II of Prunedale. These two drivers, racing alongside of 2004 Northwest Series champ Jeff Jefferson of Naches, Washington, past NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series National Champion Doug McCoun of Prunedale and Auggie Vidovich II, of Lakeside, CA, winner of the April 9 Mesa Marin Raceway Southwest Series 150, are all going to put on an incredible NASCAR quarter-mile show!

Let's not forget the local drivers. Warming up the crowd Saturday night will be the CL BRYANT American Limited Stock Car drivers. Who the winner will be could be anyone's guess. Last week's winner, Manteca's Johnny Cardoza, is expected back, as is Modesto's Charlie Clawson, Manteca's Boyd Camper and Stockton's Richard Harper and Joe Allen. This division is always exciting to watch, things should really heat up with the added excitement of what is sure to be a capacity crowd.

On hand for the evening's events will be HDTV (High Definition Television), for a live broadcast, which will air later on Speed Channel.

This is the first time in Stockton 99 Speedway history, that the historic quarter-mile paved oval will host both the NASCAR Grand National West Series and NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division Southwest Series on the same night. In honor of the coming event, there will be a Southwest Series driver autograph session at Stockton's AutoZone Store, located at 1100 N. Wilson Way, on Thursday, April 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will also be an autograph session for both series Saturday night at the track at 6:05 p.m., behind turn-1 during the ALSC events.
