ROCKLIN, California -- Steve Portenga and the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS/NAPA BELTS & Hose team will be in hot pursuit of the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series championship points lead as they head to the .25-mile short track Stockton 99 Speedway. After three races in the 2005 season, Portenga and the NAPA team are only 26 points out of the top spot and are looking for their first series win this season.
“The last time I raced at Stockton was in 2003 and as a driver, I finished behind the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS team in second,” said Portenga. “As the driver of the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet this season, I’m working to return the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet to Victory Lane at Stockton. This is the kind of tracks that I cut my teeth on as a driver. I love the short tracks. I feel the NAPA team will once again do well at Stockton. We’re racing to give our sponsor NAPA AUTO PARTS, a fourth NASCAR West Series championship title and we’re going to do that by running out front and winning races.”
The #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS team with driver Steve Portenga will be racing at the Stockton 99 Speedway on Saturday, April 30th. Gates open at 11 am, qualifying at 5:35 pm with the NASCAR West Series racing to run at 8:45 pm PST.
